Oh, I'm sorry - I wasn't under the impression that the reader already be stimulated prior to reading, or initiate reading in order to encourage said stimulation. I didn't read the description to surprise myself. Yeah, I was surprised by the complete angle of titillation I received. I prefer to be pleasantly surprised when it's not intentional. :D Don't get me wrong - I read my fair share of risque stuff, but this sort of work I liken to being imprisoned and the greasy ol' balding jailer see's his way into my cell after lights-out and grinds his dead squirrel on my pelvis everynight, whispering under his reeking, rotten breath.."Hey baby, it's just you and me." o.o You know what? If I'm going to read risque novels or Erotica, instead of porn, I at least want it to be worth it. OK? I'm not even a viewer of pornography, but it's likely a better alternative to this book. Hey Erotica, try harder - I dare you. Going to venture into better reviewed freebie Erotica out there because I refuse to not like at least ONE book of something! XD

This was free at Amazon so I thought "why not." It's a good idea. Several writers using it as a promotional tool to let people know they're out there and what they offer. I had not heard of any of these writers bar Emma Holly before. Oh yes, it's the hot bits with a slight lead in. I enjoyed all of the writing, but some more than others, we all have different tastes. I'll definitely be buying a couple. I've already purchased Emma Holly's Hidden Crimes and I thoroughly enjoyed the snippets I read of Shelley Thacker's, His Forbidden Touch, Julianne MacLean's, Taken by the Cowboy, and Allyson James's, Justin. Ten Shades of Sexy covers a lot of styles from period/historical romance to time travel, contemporary and paranormal. I thought it was a clever idea and I hope people get it just to have a look-see at an author/style they might not have previously known/thought about.

My favorites are listed below: "His Forbidden Touch" by Shelly Thacker - was well written and sweetly erotic. There was a gem of intimacy shared between the characters long before the touching . . . I liked how the author describes the sound of the waters Ciara is bathing in and how those sounds alone add to Royce's desire and arousal. I will definitely purchase this novel because I want to know what happens next. By the way, I already love Royce for the strength he portrays, knowing his role, his duty and the honor thing but still, he finds a way (in this particular scene) to please Ciara and WHAT A PLEASURE!!! I have to read more! Storyline and writing are great! "Tales of the Shareem" by Allyson James/Jennifer Ashley - is a paranormal romance story. I've never read such a story so I was interested to say the least. I was pleasantly surprised by the plot and I like the two characters, Justin and Deanna - especially when the chains break that kept Justin restrained. "Trust Me" by Lori Devoti - is a vampire romance novel. It has a damsel in distress sort of feel to it which I like for this particular story and the sex is good. I'm selective in regards to the type of vampires I like but I deserve to learn more about the characters presented here and those talked about but were unseen. This snippet left me wanting more. I hope that the three novels live up to my curiosity; I didn't mind that the stories started off in the middle because there were introductions to each story before the particular chapters were presented. The three above were my favorites and I intend to purchase the novels.

This is a collaboration unlike any I have read before. I like to read anthologies to get a glimpse of how authors write, but this was also a glimpse into a specific book by the authors. Each story starts out with a synopsis of what is going on within the book each scene comes from. Each scene we are given is a “steamy” one so we also get a sense of just how steamy and romantic the book is. I personally don’t care for historical reads so I read a bit and then skip the rest, but I definitely found a couple stories that I liked enough to read the entire book. Great idea, good collaboration, definitely something to check out.

This was actually disappointing. I hadn't realized it was very short excerpts from ten different erotic romances. Series: "His Forbidden Touch" (Stolen Brides, 2) "After the Fire" (Hidden Cove, 1) "Just Perfect" (Perfect, 2) "Lips That Touch Mine" (Grayson Brothers, 3) "Justin" (Tales of the Shareem, 7) "Hidden Crimes" (Hidden, 3) My Take I believe, however, that the stated idea for this "novel" of excerpts is to provide the hottest bits from those novels. Like I said, the ostensible excuse provided. It's really just an enticement to get you to buy the actual novel/short story. I don't recommend this book. Either buy the individual novels outright or borrow the actual stories from the library to see if you would like it. There just isn't enough in these to persuade me into buying more than a few. The Excerpts Shelly Thacker's "His Forbidden Touch" is an historical romance from the 14th century and pays no attention to mores of the time. This was a real turn-off for me. Then there's the dorky inconsistencies: "fur had parted just enough to reveal the soft curves of her breasts, their rosy peaks taut." Okay, points for knowing the difference between "taut" and "taught", but if only her breasts' soft curves are visible, how can he possibly see those rosy peaks? And there are just too many of these idiocies. Kathryn Shay's "After the Fire" is a contemporary romance about a pair of firefighters whose past romantic experiences have left them shellshocked. They have a child together, they live together, but they have made pact to not sleep together. The little bit available to read was so melodramatic, although the sex scene was good. But it doesn't entice me into wanting to read more. Patricia Ryan's "Heaven's Fire" is a twelfth-century romance with conflict over a teaching priest's attraction to a persecuted young woman in Oxford. If it fell into my lap, I'd read it. Julie Ortolon's "Just Perfect" is a contemporary romance about a doctor attracted to her ski instructor/head of Search and Rescue while she's on vacation. It's an interesting twist as both are attracted to each other and it's the man who slips up and confesses to love, although he does retrieve his position quickly. It appears to include some rope bondage. I'd pick this one up. No, not because of the ropes. I like the twist. Patricia McLinn's "The Games" is a contemporary romance between a biathlete and a hockey player. Ehhh. Julianne MacLean's "Taken by the Cowboy" time-travel romance is kind of cute with Jessica Delaney unexpectedly taken back in time where she tangles with an Old West sheriff, Truman Wade. This one's going on my check it out further list because it's about time travel. What can I say, I'm a sci-fi geek. Wendy Lindstrom's "Lips That Touch Mine" is an historical romance also set in the Old West and presents a romantic conflict between a saloon owner and a woman on a temperance campaign. Only, she wants to know more about this vice she's against. I did find Grayson's explanation of why a man goes out to a saloon quite believable, that when he's at home, he's thinking of all the undone chores and the family members or neighbors he should be helping whereas, at the pub, none of that is niggling away at him. Allyson James "Justin" is a paranormal romance about male sex slaves. It is an interesting twist in that the women are the dominant gender. And, hey, it's Allyson James! Emma Holly's "Hidden Crimes" is a paranormal romance from her Hidden paranormal romance series. I've already started reading this series and am enjoying it very much. Lori Devoti's "Trust Me" is a vampire romance in which a dhamphir is hunting down the last member of a female vampire's bloodline. She's been feeding off her bloodline to increase her power and Henry Bisson intends to trap her and kill her in revenge. Sounds interesting. The Cover I can't get excited about the underwear the girl is wearing, although that is all she's wearing...other than the boxer-wearing guy she's wrapped her legs around! The title is to the point, for there are Ten Shades of Sexy in the ten excerpts.

A great premise....take some hot and steamy scenes from a few romance novels and put them all together in an anthology. Unfortunately, with the exception of the first excerpt (by Shelly Thacker) all the love scenes fell flat and ca me off as quite over the top and cheesy. Maybe the scenes need to be read in the scope of the actual book in order to work, but irregardless, this Kindle freebie ended up being very disappointing.

A free compilation from ten authors ranging from mildly hot to combustible (e.g, a Tales of the Shareem scene by me as Allyson James is in there). Just the good parts! Gives you a taste of what we all have to offer.

Then by the time the consumer spits it out, the money has been spent. I suppose the customer could take it back and demand a refund, but how often does that happen? The selections in this anthology aren't that bad. If they were, I would have given one star. They are competently written, and there was a copyeditor involved somewhere along the line, so they are free of typos and egregiously bad grammar. Unfortunately, they are forgettable. There was not one selection that tempted me to buy the book or even remember it by the time I was finished. I think this was a freeby from Bookbub or Pixel of Ink or some such service, so I didn't pay good money for it. I wish I had back the time I spent, though. That's gone forever, and there won't be any more. I'm sorry for the authors. I'm willing to bet that being included in this anthology was a big thrill for them, and that they had high hopes. I wish them well, and maybe they will find their readers. Unfortunately, I'm not one of them. YMMV.

This was a pretty good book. It was very different in that each chapter was a brief synopsis of a larger work and then one really good love scene. What I really liked about it was I got to read brief portions of books in genres I would not have normally read, such as paranormal romance and historical romance. This lead me to decide that maybe I should try a full length book in each genre as I enjoyed the brief glimpse into these works. 26/1 - This is actually a good way to read a sample of, what I think, is one of the more important parts of a number of romances before you commit to buying or borrowing them. You get some back story in the introduction and then it's not just the romance scene, but everything leading up to it as well, so you're not just plopped into the middle of the scene going "What's going on? Whose line is it, anyway?". Another one of those free Kindle reads that left me wondering WHY. Basically, this is a collection of excerpts for different books, putting all the 'good parts' together to lure you in so you want to buy the full book. If anything, these little pieces put me off of reading the entire story if pretty much all of them. I mean, sure, they were pretty steamy, but the scenes were clearly cut out of a bigger story, pulled out of context and none of them really stood out and overall it was just meh. I like getting to know the characters and following their stories vs... bam here they are... and bam its over.... some good stories in this book but would not pay for it. Ten short samples from ten different books, and while there were a couple that sounded like something I would like to read more of, the majority of them were disapointing. However, I did get this free for my kindle off of Amazon, and I do really like the idea behind the book, as it allows the reader a chance to sample the book, without having to spend the money only to feel like they wasted their money if they don't like it. When I was buying this book, my expectations were high. But I found that taking out the supposed hot, steamy scenes out of a book doesnt quite leave still steamy. Of the 10 excerpts, i found just one steamy, that for me is a sad score, considering. Oh well Suffice to say it just goes to prove that you really need to build up a story, bulk it up, give it body then life and thus enjoyment will follow naturally from the reader!

What a great idea! I love having a book of excerpts of "the good parts" from a bunch of different authors. It gave me several new authors I liked to try. I like this much better than a novella. I usually hate short stories- they feel too abrupt and I almost never find a new author I like from them. But this was excerpts, so the storyline didn't feel cramped like a short story does. So if you are looking for some other books that you might like, this gives a nice variety. Very short, I think the kindle version I have is 125 pages. I actually didn't mind this book. It reminded me of the years I spent slowly glancing through books in the bookstore, trying to get enough of a feel of the writing to want to buy. That seems to be the clear purpose of a book of excerpts - draw the reader in with a steamy scene to get them to purchase the whole story. Nice scenes. I actually didn't mind this book. So can't beat free right? Well this book of stories was okay but lacked on substance and was more if an advertising campaign than anything else. I made it through about 30 percent if the stories before moving onto another book. But if you into quick hitting stories then this book may be for you. So can't beat free right?
