Top notch scholarly writing on the NT gospels. Reflects latest research and findings, not only LDS, and the footnotes reference every resource used - which is useful when considering what to teach and where to find more information. Many scholars contributed - each chapter is written by someone different (some easier to understand than others). I'm heartened to learn that so many archeological and historical findings continue to come to light and shine that light on a theological understanding o Top notch scholarly writing on the NT gospels. I'm heartened to learn that so many archeological and historical findings continue to come to light and shine that light on a theological understanding of what, how, when, where and why Jesus taught. It is a trilogy of volumes. I am such a fan of Wayment and Holzapfel and the work they are doing.

I absolutely loved this series. It might be the best commentary on the Gospels for Latter-day Saints available. Not a verse-by-verse commentary, each chapter covers one theme. Most of the contributors do an excellent job, though there is one who could work on his tone (condescending).

Overall, I have enjoyed reading this serious. Of course, some of the articles were boring (read: over my head) but I still found much to ponder.

These books were a great resource when I was teaching the New Testament in Gospel Doctrine. I love the insights and the depth of the research.
