Really didn't like this book. There is even less continuity in this than the previous volume. This makes it very hard for me to care about any of the characters. Some of the "history" in this is made up, making it far less compelling than the other books in the series. The only reason I didn't give it 1 star was because the chapter on Stalingrad was mostly interesting. I don't think that Anthony knows what the word "art" means. There were more chapters devoted to true arts in the first 3 books than this entire book combined.

"Hell hath no fury like that of a culture unmasked." Art (noun): the expression or application of human creative skill and imagination Seen hear is human creativity expressing politics, seduction, war, and more. Not always visual art is portrayed here, but all a manner of art just the same. I love these stories for what they show: the connection across time and cultures, across rank and class, age and gender, that join us together and make us who we are. That make us human. Have been reading the fantasy literature by Piers Anthony. The Geodyssey series is a result of a great deal of research and his amazing skills as a writer. He wove historical facts in unique tales that allow the reader to see a common thread in different cultural, social, political, and geographical developments.

this was the next book in the geoodessy series. i loved the others but this one was only ok. it was too war-like, for one, lots of fighting, military stuff... also, instead of a family, it had a bunch of different people, who eventually become friends and sort of families, but its not the same. i was pretty dissapointed.this was the next book in the geoodessy series. i loved the others but this one was only ok. it was too war-like, for one, lots of fighting, military stuff... also, instead of a this was the next book in the geoodessy series. i loved the others but this one was only ok. it was too war-like, for one, lots of fighting, military stuff... also, instead of a family, it had a bunch of different people, who eventually become friends and sort of families, but its not the same. i was pretty dissapointed.this was the next book in the geoodessy series. i loved the others but this one was only ok. it was too war-like, for one, lots of fighting, military stuff... also, instead of a family, it had a bunch of different people, who eventually become friends and sort of families, but its not the same. i was pretty dissapointed.

I can't actually finish this book. I've renewed it twice from the library, but it's too long. I'm not super interested in the story, so I doubt I will ever finish it. It's too bad, because I remember the other three books in this series being very interesting, and the premise is very interesting to me. Oh well. I can't actually finish this book. This book was really interesting. It is impressive how Anthony puts the same characters and same storyline in different historical settings. There was too much sex for me. The womens attitudes are more like mens, or prostitutes or porn stars. Other than that I really enjoyed reading it. Anthony is on my short list of favorite authors.

VERY disappointing after the first three. By book 4, the premise is no longer enough to carry the book. The characters in this one are annoying, and Anthony's preoccupation with sex and young girls is disturbingly prevalent. VERY disappointing after the first three. Weird...I wonder sometimes who writes these books under the Piers Anthony name as they are so often so different. All in all, I liked it, though.

One of my favorites of Anthony's works. I've enjoyed reading him since I was but a pre-teen. When I read this book at the age of 21 it reconfirmed for me his power as an author. Well researched and an interesting concept. Unfortunately, it's not a good read because Piers Anthony is a horrible writer. I have to stop reading books by him.
