The most important speeches of America's "Great Communicator": Here, in his own words, is the record of Ronald Reagan's remarkable political career and historic eight-year presidency. Chosen and annotated by the President himself, these speeches reflect his concerns, his political philosophy, and the triumphs, the tragedies, and the challenges of his years in office. From The most important speeches of America's "Great Communicator": Here, in his own words, is the record of Ronald Reagan's remarkable political career and historic eight-year presidency. Chosen and annotated by the President himself, these speeches reflect his concerns, his political philosophy, and the triumphs, the tragedies, and the challenges of his years in office. From one of his earliest speeches in 1951 to the speeches, great and small, that defined the "Reagan Revolution," the voice of Ronald Reagan comes across in these pages as strong, sure, warm, humorous, and deeply human, as he will always be remembered. Speaking My Mind is a unique and priceless invitation to share and treasure the important moments of an American president, as well as the daily business and concerns of the American presidency -- for these speeches recall the major decisions, the summit meetings, the high points of diplomacy and politics, as well as Ronald Reagan's deep involvement with the lives and cares of ordinary Americans. Each speech is preceded by Ronald Reagan's candid and often moving comments on why it was given and under what circumstances, and a special section is included of "The Wit and Wisdom of Ronald Reagan," reminding us that this was a president who had plenty of both.

Enjoyed listening to Reagan on these CDs. The only thing I disagreed with in his speeches was his idea to overturn the term limits of Presidents. That would have allowed BHO the 3rd term that he wanted which would have been a nightmare.

I actually bought the Audio version and I'm soooooo glad I did because hearing the actual speeches, just as he gave them, in his own voice was so moving. (Several of them moved me to tears). People rave about Obama's oratory skills, but Reagan was so much better (and more sincere). It is so ironic that our country is in the same place it was when Reagan took office, but he was able to turn things around. by the end of his eight years in office, 16 million jobs were created...not meaningless gove I actually bought the Audio version and I'm soooooo glad I did because hearing the actual speeches, just as he gave them, in his own voice was so moving. It is so ironic that our country is in the same place it was when Reagan took office, but he was able to turn things around. by the end of his eight years in office, 16 million jobs were created...not meaningless government jobs - real private sector jobs. He lowered taxes and created wealth, not just for the wealthy, but brought the middle class up to a higher level. The world respected America. Americans respected America. Obama's plan is not working. He needs to rethink his strategy and go back and review Reagan's policies.

This book is a great read. It truly shows Reagan's ideology and how great his speechwriting was. Many of his speeches are clear, straightforward, and filled with common sense. I wasn't very political during the Reagan years as I was just getting into High School during the end of his Presidency but after reading this book years later I realized how much of a great person Reagan was.

I got this book as a gift in high school, back when I was much more political than I am now. I loved it so much that I memorized some of Reagan's speeches. I flipped through it recently. Even though politically, I'm an independent, I still love reading him.

What a champion of civil liberties this man was!! I knew that from history, but have never taken the time to read his speeches. They are amazing! If you liked him at all, it will really appeal to you!

Liked hearing the warmth and sincerity in his words. Impressed by his Barry Goldwater speech because he wrote it himself.
