On a roll with this series and I'll probably finish all 14 volumes by Monday and back to work. I have some mixed feelings about this volume. I really like the almost standalone chapters where Sumire and Takeshi/Momo go to the inn and meet the two children who want to see a mermaid. However, the opening chapter which is a follow up to the end of the previous volume's last chapter is a little weak. Yet, it somehow fits the up-and-down of Sumire and Takeshi/Momo. There is fun in this volume but also the hints of what is not healthy in Sumire's relationships with Momo and Hasumi. I don't like Shiori but the flaw of Sumire's passiveness inches the door open for a better chance at Hasumi. It is a bit clumsier in presentation but given that the characters all seem clumsy and dysfunctional, it oddly works.

Feels like nothing much is happening in the last 2-3 volumes or so. Still very enjoyable and fun but not the "I need next volume asap cause I can't stop reading now" vibe there was in the beginning. ~☽ Feels like nothing much is happening in the last 2-3 volumes or so. I'm going to stick with three, cause even though I enjoyed Momo's ballet, the hot springs plot bothered me when Kairi almost strangled Ann. I also do not like how Sumire is keeping so many secrets from Hasumi. Lastly, I also feel parts of the plot are moving too fast to really be either appreciated or much other than filler. Overall, I do still like the series enough to continue. I'm going to stick with three, cause even though I enjoyed Momo's ballet, the hot springs plot bothered me when Kairi almost strangled Ann. The chapters with the mermaids was... a strange detour, but this volume was really engaging. I felt that the tension's starting to rise again, and where the plot wasn't developed, there was humour. A good volume. Still good but I was hoping for a little more character growth from the leading lady. I don't like it when the story gets slowed down and very little gets resolved. Though, this volume was saved by the mermaid story and Momo's character growth. The last chapter felt like a distraction from the main story, but I'm sure it'll tie in. Sadly, this looks like the last in this series I'll be able to read. It seems as if my library got rid of all of this series and the only reason this one's still in the system is that it's currently checked out by me... So for the record, I love this series, and I'm not stopping because I want to! Sadly, this looks like the last in this series I'll be able to read. Volume starts with chapter 25: Pet's Condition. Sumire wakes up to Momo not being there. In fact he's at his dance class. More squabbles in between and Momo says he wants to move out.
