It was the late Hugh Millar who alleged that the huge stone under which Edward sleeps in Westminster Abbey agrees in structure with no rocks nearer than those whence the mighty stones of the Temple at Jerusalem were hewn, and there is no doubt that earth and stones were frequently brought by crusaders from the Holy Land with a view to the hallowing of their own tombs. . . Somewhat disjointed but a favorite subject: the de Montfort family. Richard, the 4th son of Earl Simon de Montfort has hidden after his father and brother were slain at Evesham and becomes the Page of Edward I in disguise. Edward notices the resemblance while they are on Crusade and his suspicions are finally confirmed but Edward does not reveal it to others as enmity is still high against the de Montforts due to the elder sons still causing trouble.

Reminds me of the writing of G.H. Henty but with more characterization. I wasn't familiar with the history so appreciated the author's explanation at the beginning of the book. I'll be reading more of her work. Reminds me of the writing of G.H. Henty but with more characterization.
