What a dissatisfying ending! I kept waiting for Len's character to grow, but I really don't see much difference between Len at the end of the story and the arrogant self-absorbed Len of volume 1. It is never okay to insult the person you're in love because you're in love with them. Abuse in any fashion is not okay, verbal included, and that's what I saw in his treatment of Kahoko. That she meekly takes it, finds fault in herself instead of demanding more of Len, is not okay with me either. I do What a dissatisfying ending! I think this story could have been really charming - a girl with no previous musical experience inexplicably finds herself entered into a school-wide competition, which she is then assisted in with magical aid. At the very least, we could have explored the guilt she felt when she was pretending to be something that she wasn't. Ah well, maybe another time in another story.

The series overall was enjoyable but it left so many unanswered questions. The end felt rushed and left much to be desired. I read the books to see who she ended up with after watching the anime, so at least the major question was answered.

That was definitely a underwhelming ending to this series. First of all lose ends were not tied up, not all of the romance interest got to either confess or accept their own feelings. Plus that confession from Len was barley one. Well now what?

Why are these shojo manga so silly and yet so wonderfully uplifting? I'm sad to say goodbye to the characters of this series (until I inevitably watch the anime), but it ended well. Or something more exciting should have happened. It feels like maybe the author was in a huge hurry. I HAVE TO HURRY! And plan out volume 17 as fast as I possibly can! I need to hurry, it is an EMERGENCY! If I don't hurry THE WORLD WILL END!!! Is probably what she thought. Or maybe I want to submit my Volume 17 into . . . . . . DON'T SPOIL YOURSELF PLEASE. So. This is a harem manga. Girl surrounded by a bunch of guys--multiple guys having affection for ONE GIRL--maybe I just don't like harems anymore or something but all that basically happened in this volume was: A GUY CONFESSED. (Nothing . . . really . . . happened. There was blushing, some squirming, but . . . NOTHING that could be finished in ONE VOLUME.) Other guys mention that they like the girl, but THEY NEVER SAY ANYTHING. Or do anything. And of course, everyone was awaiting the romance between Kaho and Len, right? Len was in this book. But there was NO EMOTION. NO FEEEEEELING. And to top it ALL OFF BIGGEST SPOILER THERE WAS NO KISS!!!!!!!!! (*pulls hair off head) Yeah. This volume was okay. Art was pretty. BUT . . . . The music aspect of the story has pretty much dwindled to Kahoko’s personal feelings about the violin, and the final chapters are mainly about which boy will win Kahoko’s heart. It definitely has the flavor of a romance videogame as one boy after another has his moment with Kahoko, so even if you disagree with Kahoko’s ultimate choice, you can just focus on the other scenes. The Review La Corda was based on a romance videogame, and although there is some fretting from Kahoko about whether to continue studying violin, the main focus of La Corda’s final volume is the confessions of love and final sentiments from the male cast. Aoi’s “Special Edition” chapter provides a concise summation of everyone’s feelings (including Shoko’s) when he goes around asking everyone what they find attractive about Kahoko. However, the major heartthrobs – Ryotaro, Kazuki, Azuma, and Len – get to have their own heart-to-heart chat with Kahoko. Although everyone’s completely in character for these scenes, the chapters feel rushed. Kazuki’s moment is only a couple pages tacked on at the end of Ryotaro’s two chapters, and we never get to see the Christmas party that was the impetus for Kahoko working in the music store (I was looking forward to seeing their Secret Santa, too…). Still, Kahoko finally makes her choice at the end of the volume although the touching closing scene is not without some frustration. As Lili, who makes one last appearance, so elegantly expresses, “Just kiss her already!” Kure-sensei’s illustrations are lovely as always, and as a bonus, she includes fan-designed “ultimate date outfits” for Kahoko, Ryotaro, Kazuki, and Len. She also includes a two-page afterword at the end of the volume.

SPOILERS AHEAD! The story as a whole isn't really romantic because romantic scenes are almost non-existent. If I'm going to review it using only my mind, that's exactly what I would say. BUT! Though there are really no kissing scenes or whatever (and when I say kissing scene, I really mean a proper kiss on the lips) in the whole manga, I still squealed and screamed and giggled and laughed the whole time I was reading this. First off, I'm a proud LenxHino supporter. From the very beginning, I already loved Len's character and hoped that Hino and him end up together. That's why, every time he shows concern to Hino, I was like "Waaah! Len's concerned about Hino!" or "Oh my GOD! Len just offered his help to Hino!" or... oh, anyway, you get my point. I was so engrossed with these characters that I hadn't noticed that nothing super sweet really happened between them, though if we will take Len's personality into equation, almost every scene where he shows concern for her is already sweet. :D Now, let's move on to the ending, since I'm reviewing this volume. I was so on Lili's side when she(?) said, "They're supposed to kiss!" or something like that. Why, OH WHY DIDN'T THEY KISSED? WHY?! T_T Oh, and I also remember a scene when Hino went to Len's house to give him her gift. When Len said something to Hino that hurt her feelings, I was like, "Oh my God! Can I go inside this book and just give Len a very hard jab on the head? Why'd he do that to Hino? WHY CAN'T HE JUST SAY WHAT HE WANTS TO SAY CLEARLY?!". So, yeah. I was pretty frustrated on that part. XD So, there. It's obvious that I really enjoyed the series. I hope you guys liked it, too. Matta ne!

The main reason this gets a 4 and not a 5 is because I don't (in general) like manga that is based off harem dating simulation games. The main character never ends up with the one I want, and it's usually pretty muddled. Now, that's fine, but for shoujo I think most people can agree that what they came for was the romance, and at the end of this, there is not so much as a kiss to "seal the deal" as to who she ends up with. (I'm personally okay with that because he wasn't my favorite). However, though I started reading La Corda for romance, I quickly became swept up in the musical aspect of it, and I absolutely loved it. I love our protagonist giving it all she's got! True, there was an element of the supernatural in the beginning, but that fades and it just becomes her and the friendships she makes, along with her progress on the violin. I own a violin, which I received as a gift a few years ago, and I have never played. This manga was enough to get me to open the box, to learn how to hold it, to try and play a few notes. That is worth something alone. The love of music among these students is so forthcoming, and it's charming. I appreciate how the author names the pieces they perform, because many of them are breathtakingly beautiful. Truly I found this manga to be about music, and the love of music, rather than about a romance between our heroine and one of the boys (though it was a fresh sight to see a harem romance surrounding a GIRL for once). Totally worth the read!

I don't usually like Manga based off of dating sims because it builds up all of this romantic tension and then doesn't follow through. This one wasn't so bad though, and because of the art and the story telling. I do get really annoyed at the lead though, there is no way a person can be so clueless as to not notice that Six guys are seriously interested in her. I know it's necessary to drive the story but it makes her look seriously stupid. I know it's mild, but ick. The series is really good at building romantic tension though, so if you are a fan of that (as I am) then check this series out. It's also about music, which is beautiful and great so that's another reason to give it a try. I also found the inclusion of a whole new set of characters very distracting. I kept thinking that there was so little space left, so why waste it on people we aren't invested in? Bah.

~4/5 [Read more at my blog, Geeky Reading!] This was a nice ending, simple, a little not as solid as I wanted, but still good. A big conclusion for Kahoko and several of her friends, a simple confession between her and Len, some growing for Kahoko. I think I maybe wanted a little more solidity, but it was still nice. Either way, I am going to miss this series. It was fun and very cute, and I grew very attached to the characters. I’m going to miss all of them a lot. I want more, but I’m satisfied. Having stuck by this series for a long while, I'm glad that it's finally over. It didn't drag on too long, and it was entertaining for the most part. However, I'm kind of disappointed with the ending. It ended off on a good note, but I wish it had expanded a little more on all of the characters with an afterward or something that showed everyone in the future and how they're getting on. It all started with Kahoko, a fairy and a magic violin. First saw the anime and found the story continues of course in manga form. I'll admit I started liking the series then later on wasn't as into it. Still from time to time I would try to catch up. The art and characters are drawn really well. One of my favorite things is a reverse harem type of series and this one did not disappoint. The correlation between each of the different boys and their musical instruments was excellent and I loved how music helped to progress the story line along. Hino was such a cute character! Anime: One of my favorites! I loved all of the music!!!

I was totally not satisfied with the ending. I actually thought that they would meet after a few years and not a few months but that's alright. What I wanted to know was whether Hihara was going to confess to Kahoko and who is the one whom SHE loves. And Etou never once appeared again after the side story. 75 chapters of this manga is not enough for me. I want more of it. I was totally not satisfied with the ending.
