In a bid to obtain a more suitable standard of living, he reasons that working hard and playing by the rules are key. However, he is finding it increasingly difficult to cope with the ill-timed challenges that life produces and struggles to make sense of a society that he has been naive to. As time progresses and his patience decreases, the deep-seated rage within him begins to surface. Suddenly, conforming to the social norms only seems to further provoke him, leaving roughly two choices: 'continue as is' or 'delve into darkness'. It is not long before he makes new allies that persuade him to his destined choice.

His cousin is a hitman for a gang and brings Non into the life. The plot and the theme were great. The author could have expanded on it though. The story was very short and Non is not a likable character. He has a giant chip on his shoulder and acts like the world owes him something. The slang dialogue was not well written. There were times that the reader could barely understand the conversation being had because of the slang. There were times when it should have been used but wasn't. It kept the dialogue from flowing and was very distracting. The rest of the book was well written enough that I continued reading after I got frustrated with the slang.
