   In this memoir Yvette Maher shares her life's traumas, trials and triumphs. Before she became a christian she dealt with a lot of pain, emotional pain that she began to fill those voids with drugs and alcohol, not to mention empty relationships. Though God never did abandon her. Through her stories laced with humor and irony she reveals how God redeemed her devastating childhood by enabling her to forgive her murderous and unfaithful father. Throughout all the wild changes of her life, God has always been with her and offering grace at each turn. This was an intriguing book. I've seen some reviews that that are really unfavorable about this book. Though I did enjoy it and it wasn't too terribly long. Pretty dang short compared to what I read lately. I thought it was a good book though, it kept me interested all throughout and I wish her book was longer. I felt like she had more story to tell. It was a great read.

Kentucky farm girl born and raised, she endured a difficult young family life which has projected itself into her adult life through challenges and life lessons. Yet through it all God has been faithful. The result of her experiences left her needing to know where she fit in the roadmap of life. Her encouraging testimony speaks strength to her reading audience. I believe this book is written for women as there are situations experienc Yvette has experienced God's loving grace throughout her life. Yet through it all God has been faithful. The result of her experiences left her needing to know where she fit in the roadmap of life. Her encouraging testimony speaks strength to her reading audience. I believe this book is written for women as there are situations experienced by the author that only a woman can relate to. Along with excellent recipes this well written autobiography will put you on the other side of the fence marveling at her transformation. I do love reading stories about the way others come to Christ's loving grace. I found the overall message of the book to be inspiring, and through her words, I found the book to be challenging to my faith. I will recommend this hard to put down book to others.    The stories are interesting but a little on the long winded side. I grew uninterested as the book ended. It's missing something, I kept waiting for an a-ha moment. My Hair and God's Mercies...New Every Morning by Yvette Maher was a poignant and moving book that was a beautiful mixture of hilarious stories, saddening tragedies, and convicting truths. The book had its own flow that displayed the author's personality. The story did not necessarily chronologically follow Yvette's life, but it was easy to follow both her story and her spiritual growth through it. Yvette had an excellent sense of humor despite her harsh circumstances, and I enjoyed seeing how she responded to certain situations once she experienced God's love. Her writing style was enjoyable and easy to follow while still being filled with important aspects of God's truth. I loved how each chapter ended with a recipe that meant a lot to Yvette. I cannot wait to try some of them out! The truths and growth that Yvette experienced was tremendous. I was able to connect with her thoughts and what she learned even though I have not been through the same tragedies and hard life that she has. Yvette made some great points, and this will certainly be a book I go back to when I am in need of a reminder of what God's grace can do for a broken family. I highly recommend this book to anyone who is struggling or just needs a reminder of what God can do. I received this book for free from Tyndale House Publishers through NetGalley.com

The author recounts her life story in this thought-provoking book. She talks about her use of drugs and even alcohol but she also shows you how the Lord never abandoned her. I liked how open the author was. She does not shy away from saying what needs to be said.
