In World Folktales, Anita Stern shares folklore from many different countries, and parts of the stories may sound slightly familiar- in theme and content. The stories discuss birth and childhood, challenge and adventure, love and marriage, and death and inheritance, themes common in the lives of many. I enjoy how Stern includes a bit of background information about the country and origins of the tale before each one. Questions are provided as well after each folktale for further reflection, whic In World Folktales, Anita Stern shares folklore from many different countries, and parts of the stories may sound slightly familiar- in theme and content. I found it to be a really fun, and interesting, book to read. I did skip the parts filled with suggestions for teachers on classroom discussions and suggested questions to ask. I was more interested in reading the folk tales from areas of the world I knew no stories from. Some themes are universal to mankind and this is divided into sections of some of those themes.

This is an anthology of folktales from all around the world, demonstrating the world in their perspectives. You would like this book if you like to read about countries' different cultures, and if you like an easy read. I compilation of stories all packed into a book. It explains a lot about why humans do what they do and how legends were orginated.
