Blood Awakening is the 2nd book in the Blood Prophecy series and I have to say Jaime Manning has done it again. I really liked the turn out of this book. It continued smoothly from book one and finished on a surprisingly twisted end that I never expected. I have to say I was a little pissed at the end with what happened, but its bitter sweet since I know book 3 should be on the rise. Now I just have to wait until it comes out. I really liked the turn out of this book. It continued smoothly from book one and finished on a surprisingly twisted end that I never expected. I have to say I was a little pissed at the end with what happened, but its bitter sweet since I know book 3 should be on the rise. Now I just have to wait until it comes out. Although I loved the story, I was a little annoyed with Ava and her guilt towards Chance and Erik. I understand what happened and why she believes she's guilty but her constant apologies and crying really got to me after a while. I just wanted her to realize that both Chance and Erik were okay with what happened and that she could move on, but that never happened. I did however, love the triangle. There was a part in the story where I thought that Lacey would be a part of the triangle, but that didn't happen. That would have been a fun little twist. I'm hoping to find out more about Kacey's father in the next book since it wasn't really explained in this sequel. Now on to the ending! Jaime if you are reading this, it better not be true!! Please tell me it isn't true!! I surely hope not but I will definitely be biting my nails until the next book comes out so I know exactly what happened!! I can't wait. This is a fantastic read and I recommend it to everyone.

NOTE: There will be SPOILERS from Blood Born! Blood Awakening is the second book in Jamie Manning's Blood Prophecy trilogy and I have to say it was even better than the first one. Blood Awakening is the second book in Jamie Manning's Blood Prophecy trilogy and I have to say it was even better than the first one. Some time has passed since the ending of Blood Born, Chance is now a vampire. Ava had Aldric turn him in order to save his life. Only thing is, now Chance won't even talk to her. She has spent some time with Erik (off the page) and now there seems to be something brewing between them, she's not sure she wants there to be anything. Hence the beginning of her boy troubles. To help her escape the problems, Kayla enlists Ava's help in finding her dad who has been missing for some time. This includes taking a trip to Boston, and Erik comes along as well to help his friend out. The trip doesn't prove to be of any leads, but Kayla isn't about to give up. When they return home, it's only to have more added troubles for Ava. Chance is back in school and when Ava wants to see of restarting their tentative relationship again, Chance wants to be with her, but he wants her to remain a vampire. Ava's deal with Aldric involved her killing 100 vampires so that she may regain her humanity, as for now, she's only half vampire and half human. Ava isn't sure she wants to remain a vampire, even for Chance. You can just feel the tension that this is going to bring about! When the four friends find themselves back in Boston, trying to track down a new lead to finding Kayla's dad, they find trouble instead. The kind of trouble that's vampire. Zyris is a leader of a vampire coven of sorts and she has plans. Plans that involve Chance and possibly even Ava herself. I have to say that I really did enjoy this one, but yet, there were still a few things that nagged at me. Like when Kayla, Ava and Chance (and Erik) go back to Boston, it's during the school week and while Chance says he can mesmerize the teachers into believing all is well, I have to wonder, how long can he really do that? Time goes by in Boston and yet it seems no one's worried about the missing teens. Not even their parents! Especially when another teenager from their school reluctantly joins Ava and her friends in their crusade. It just makes you wonder, how neglectful are these parents? Why doesn't it get mentioned? Why aren't they calling their teenager's cell phones? And then there was another issue with moving car keys. Seemed like everyone had a set even when people kept getting separated. But despite those minor issues that just seemed to nag at me when they popped up, I really did enjoy this one! Ava is quite the character and I find her situation fresh and unusual. Ava and crew even learn about a prophecy that is likely going to play a HUGE role in the next and I believe final book. Some of it seemed kind of obvious to me at the time when it didn't really for the characters, but I guess they were caught up in the moment of trying to rescue one of their friends at the time, to not see how obvious it was. Now onto the romance! It seems like there is a love triangle brewing. Yup, another one of those. But seriously this is one of the more complex ones. I couldn't figure out which guy I was rooting for more. Ava loves Chance, but he's changed a lot since he became a vampire. And then there's Erik who has been there a lot for Ava recently and she for him. Plus now Ava and Chance are vampires and Erik is still human and a vampire hunter no doubt, so it does leave Ava in quite a predicament. The ending was pretty awesome! Shocking revelations were happening left and right in the final chapters and they are going to be what sets us on course for the third book. There's even an evil little cliffhanger, but I am trying to stay on the positive side of things, but truly there's no telling what Jamie will have thrown at us! The wait to October is going to be loooong indeed! Blood Awakening was a thrilling addition to the Blood Prophecy trilogy and while there are a few minor hangups I had as a reader, it was still a very enjoyable read. Nothing like adventure, romance and vampires to make for an incredible read! Overall Rating 4/5 stars

BLOOD AWAKENING is a rare find, being that it is a second book in a series that is actually better than the first. BLOOD AWAKENING somehow manages to avoid the second in a series slump unlike so many books these days. So, how was it done? It’s not the first book was written badly, it’s simply that as with anything the more you do something the better you’ll be. It’s the ole’ practice makes perfect concept and Jamie is definitely proving it to be true. Second, Erik! Oh my gosh! While I loved Chance in the first book I have to say that my allegiances definitely swapped to Team Erik. He was so hot in this book! His personality reminded me of Adrian from Vampire Academy (one of my favorite characters of all time) so I couldn’t help but fall for him. He had a playful attitude and confidence that leaned toward arrogance. I also felt that the plot moved more quickly. There was constantly something happening. Ava finally begins learning about her past and starts thinking more about her future. The love triangle of Chance/Ava/Erik is complicated by Chance’s new state of being (and the fact that he has turned into a jerk). Ava’s choice is no longer just between Erik and Chance but also between whether she wants to become a vampire or continue her quest to become human again. I really liked that and thought that aspect added something to the story. Ava and Kayla’s friendship felt more real and genuine in this book. There was an easiness to their relationship that is critical to all great friendships. They knew each other and knew exactly what to say and do to help one another. BLOOD AWAKENING is a well written novel full of interesting characters and an action-packed plot that fans of the first book will absolutely devour! The third in the series can’t come out soon enough!

Blood Awakening is the exciting sequel to Jamie's Manning's debut novel Blood Born. One of my favorite things about this series is that Manning was able to give his own spin to the vampire genre and make it his own. With his creative mythology and engaging storyline I think this a book anyone who likes vampires will love. I'm going to try to give this review without spoilers. Wish me luck! Blood Born ended on a rather tragic note and we get to see the fallout of those events in Blood Awakening. Blood Awakening is the exciting sequel to Jamie's Manning's debut novel Blood Born. Blood Born ended on a rather tragic note and we get to see the fallout of those events in Blood Awakening. Ava had a clear objective in Blood Born to win back her humanity but in this book she considers other alternatives for some personal reasons. There are some major revelations in this book that suddenly make Ava question everything she thought she knew. Ava's heart is tested in this book as she finds herself torn between two boys who each offer completely different futures. It was a great love triangle and I'm torn about which boy she should end up with, although I have picked my favorite. I think this is a great addition to the series. I might have even liked it a bit more than the first book. Jamie Manning is able to craft a beautiful and powerful sentence. I ran the emotional gantlet with Ava in this book. There were times I was close to tears and other times I giggled. Blood Awakening shows how talented he truly is. I will warn you though that is has a killer cliffhanger. *Glares at the author*. I can't wait to read the third book and see how the plot and love story gets resolved.

This book pulled me in right away and kept me up all night. It was fast paced, action pack and had bittersweet emotional angst throughout the story. I missed Ave and Chance so much and I was so happy to be back in this world! So now that Chance is a vampire, things between Ava and him get so strained. You can see how much they love each other but they are also so damn stubborn. This is one of those situations where you are so close but yet so far. It’s heart breaking. Then there is Erik. Cool, cocky, hot and human he wants more than just a friendship with her. There is chemistry between them but she’s just no sure how she feels for him. Contemplating a decision between staying with her first desire to going back to being human or choosing forever with Chance as a vampire has never been a more difficult issue. Torn between two boys and two worlds how can she choose? As if her boy problems are not enough she now has another Vampire convent to worry about. Helping her best friend, Kayla, find her dad leads them to something much bigger than they ever anticipated. I have so many things running through my head now that I’m done with this book! Waiting for Blood Revelation is going to be torture. This was such a great ride and I have to know what happens next!

I found the search for Kayla's dad really interesting, I hope we find out more about his disappearance in the next book, and I loved Kayla in this story too she really seems to have come into her own. the end. OMG. was amazing and nail biting. I was reading between fingers and I am really hoping that when the third book comes out Jamie is going to throw a curve ball because that ending cant be real it just can't.

After the ending of the first book, I need this book ASAP! The plot of the book is good. It moved quickly, flowing into lots of emotions and secrets. I like that with every chapter, the reader gets a clearer view of Ava and her life. Lots is going on in it, with loss of friends and gaining new ones, nothing in Ava’s life is boring. I like towards the end of the book, Ava is beginning to piece together her past life! The love interest disappointed me for a bit. Their at an impasse and of course a new guy is added to the mix. The emotions run from hurt to hate to love then lost. Still, the love triangle doesn’t really over shadow the rest of the book. Instead it gives it a push the book need in the right direction. In the end, I think it’s pretty clear where her feelings lie. I think the build up to the end is the best part. It got my heart racing and totally wanting more. It’s so exciting to be in Ava’s shoes learning what her true destiny is!!! Blood Awakening is a great story. Filled with a plot that is unrelenting, Blood Awakening turns out to be an great addition. Never missing a beat, Blood Awakening is awesome!

I can’t count how many times a trip into the city has left with me with a lot more drama and adventure than I anticipated and the city seems to treat Ava and her crew the same way (and then some) in Blood Awakening. Now that Chance is a vampire, he refuses to speak with Ava. Which she gets (even if she doesn’t like it). To help keep her mind off of him and her eyes off of Erik, the hot vampire hunter she’s beginning to look at as more than a friend, Ava decides to help Kayla search for her dad. It is also well balanced with the angst. Of course, Ava is continually torn between her love for Chance and her burgeoning feelings for Erik and everything that goes along with making a choice between either of them. It’s not all love, lust, and yearning, however. There’s another coven Ava must deal with and the search for Kayla’s dad. Blood Awakenings left me wanting more! I cannot wait for the third novel, Blood Revelation.

Jamie Manning has done it again. Dark and compelling, this second installment of Ava's story will keep you reading long into the night and the next morning. Brew up plenty of coffee, you won't be able to put this one down. Ava is a fearless, yet a realistic heroine. As her story progresses you can only love her more. With plenty of choices for her to make, you'll be on the edge of your seat with this one. I can't wait to read more! Jamie Manning has done it again.
