I felt like I was listening to a teenager's fanfiction. The overall idea wasn't bad, I liked that it incorporated aspects of Native American lore with the skinwalkers, but the writing needs improvement. Some of the things the characters said seemed stilted or odd, like you wouldn't say that in real life. The way we got the information was in info dumps, which made it hard to follow and I would have liked some more backstory about Mya's birth, but maybe that will come in the next books. It wasn't terrible overall, just maybe could have used an editor to go over it. The narrator also didn't help things, she sounded like she's never read an audiobook before and didn't do a great job with inflection and different voices. Maybe physically reading it would have been better.

I'm loving the Native American slant... Mya wants to become a policewoman and goes to Arizona to spend the summer with her uncle Donny to gain practical experience. When the killing started, her uncle started telling her about Skinwalkers, Sinapo, and Dineh; all connected to the Navajo reservation. When the killing started, her uncle started telling her about Skinwalkers, Sinapo, and Dineh; all connected to the Navajo reservation. Mya is having a hard time handling her uncle not giving her straight answers to her questions. When Donny says anything to Mya about the murders or about her own life, it always seems to revolve around their small town and the legends of the Navajo. Knowing that her life is about to change in a dramatic way, Mya wants to get information from David. David is mysterious and illusive, and somehow connected to the legends as well. However, David keeps giving her the run around too. Mya is confused about a lot of things, but she knows that David is connected to her and whatever is going on with the murders. Mya's confusion about who she is, what she has to do with the murders, and her connection with David is starting to get to her, and with what Trent has told her, she is starting to think she may finally get some answers. David knows exactly who Mya is and what she means for him; and he knows that staying away from her is going to be impossible. He has a sacred duty that he must uphold or the people will suffer. But sense Mya is more like her mother, does that change the prophecy? Mya is supposed to be killed, but will David allow that to happen regardless of what the prophecy says? I enjoyed the way this story was told. They're quite a few twists that are well placed within the story to create shock, anger and an undying love. I only noticed one or two typos. Other than that, the book was great. If you like the paranormal and Native American lore, then you will enjoy this book a great deal. Lorraine, you've done a great job.

I love books involving werewolf romances and this one had that and another favourite topic of mine... Native Indians. Despite that, I couldn't get a feel for the book and I don't know whether or not I will be reading the 2nd book in the trilogy. The romance in this story is between Mya and David. Mya has an interest in becoming a criminal profiler and decides to spend the summer on her uncle Donny's reservation in Arizona completing an internship with the reservation police. Mya has an interest in becoming a criminal profiler and decides to spend the summer on her uncle Donny's reservation in Arizona completing an internship with the reservation police. Shortly after she arrives there are two unexplained deaths, but it is unclear if the men were attacked by wolves or if they are the result of murder. As part of the police enquiry, Mya meets David Bray who is one of the Sinapu, a revered and elite group within the Navajo tribe. Since arriving, Mya has been told by various people that she shouldn't be on the reservation and that her life is in danger although no-one will tell her what or who she is in danger from.... Sinapu or Skinwalkers, not that she believes in the existence of the latter. The suspense element of the story is quite well told and the twists and turns continue throughout the book, but I didn't find myself anxiously turning the page.

this is a great story. The drama of it is so high you can almost taste it. Love the different spin of the story set on a reservation with the added excitement of devil spirits, skinwalkers & phantoms. The characters are woven intricately together and their individual charisma and magic radiates through the pages. Can't wait until Friday to buy the next one - this is definitely a book worth reading.... this is a great story. The drama of it is so high you can almost taste it. It wasn't a bad story, but it had really bad characters and it was poorly written. The author didn't manage to convey the atmosphere of the book and the heroine is a typical example of TSL (too stupid to live). Also, for an Alpha shapeshifter, the hero really needs to grow a backbone. All in all, I wasn't interested enough to read the next one in the series. Native America lore is woven into this murder mystery romance that will keep you turning the pages and wondering who to believe. Not a stand alone novel, though it does stop at a good point to make you want to read the next book in the series!

This first book in the series took me a long time to read. Yes there was murder, drama, intrepid journey and a bit of romance not to mention the cliffhanger..... it all felt forced ...... like a history lesson. It was okay ..... not special enough to look into it further.

We all want to fall in love and have that love fulfilled. However it can also lead to hate and pain. This story reminds me of Romeo and Juliet together they are stronger than they are apart. Love finds away of coming together even through desperate times.

Oh my word. All in the name of research! And still, not a very interesting skinwalker story! And a such a "bad romance"! But, it kept me entertained anyway. Oh my word. Painful. Half of the book could have been cut if someone would have the female lead her history.

I ended up really liked the story, not a fan of the narrator at all! I will probably try the 2nd book in the trilogy, but not sure if it will make my list of must reads anytime soon.
