I am fangirl, hear me roar. No, really. I'm not kidding. Me, the one who likes to slap people who squeal too much. We all have our weaknesses which will turn us into a crazed fangirl. Dimitri Belikov is mine. Oh how I love that Russian. I promise that I will read the Laini Taylor short story (and maybe check out a couple others), but it's no secret that the only reason I had to get my hands on this book was for the extra helping of my Dimka in the Richelle Mead short story. Creative and insightful review be damned. Today it's all about the swoon. I'm allowed to be a girly girl every so often and care more about the guy than the story. At least just once in a while? There was a story in here somewhere. I think they went to visit the family and there was a Strigoi hunt. Unfortunately for this review, my mind went right to the highlight reel of Dimitri. Putting a six-foot-seven-inch man by the window in coach was just cruel. He hadn't complained the entire time, though. He never did. Morning light illuminated the sculpted features of his face and shone off his sleek brown hair. None of it could compare to the radiance within him. From the moment we'd met, he'd always stood out as one of the most decisive, confident people I'd known. He was always in motion, never afraid to take on any threat, even if it meant risking his own life. Even now, if some bloodthirsty monster sprang out of the cockpit, Dimitri would calmly jump up and battle it while armed only with the safety card in his seat pocket. "I haven't even tried," he said, in a rare moment of arrogance. "When I want to, I can be very persuasive." "Yeah? Prove it." His lips moved toward mine. "I was hoping you'd say that." I also had the sappiest grin on my face throughout, especially reading the ending. YA heroes like Dimitri and heroines like Rose are quickly becoming an endangered species. Unforgettable characters like these two are just not created anymore. My only issue is that Homecoming was way too short. I was expecting so much more than what the 50-page story had to offer. But still, with the way this ended, I have high hopes for another novella featuring Rose and Dimitri's wedding. Dimitri smiled and put his arm around me. “Don’t you believe in fate, Roza?” “Sure,” I said. “Just not in your grandmother’s crazy vague predictions.” “Doesn’t sound that crazy to me,” he teased. “You’re as crazy as her.” He kissed the top of my head. “I had a feeling you’d say that.” And after A LOT of searching, I believe I've finally found my RL version of Dimitri: You're welcome. CAN'T WAIT! There is a total of 14 stories with the theme, prophecy and prediction. I'm going to write a short review to each of these stories and give it a rating. The final rating will be the weighted rating of all these stories. 1. Gentleman Send Phantoms by Laini Taylor It's about three girls who are waiting for the phantom of the man that they are going to marry on St. Faith's Day. St. Faith's Day is a special day where a girl can lure forth the phantom of the man she'll marry, see this man's CAN'T WAIT! St. Faith's Day is a special day where a girl can lure forth the phantom of the man she'll marry, see this man's face and what will lay ahead of her future. It's a tradition that have a long history, and all of the three girls have the same man in sight. But for Catherine, Matthew Blackgrace, have a special place in heart regardless of his good looks. It was such a cute and sweet love story about two childhood sweethearts that were destined for each other. And the concept were very interesting and I've never read about anything like that before. Now I'm probably going to check out this author and what kind of books she has written. 5 stars. 2. Burned Bright by Diana Peterfreund I've just read "For Darkness Shows the Stars" and I had high expectations for this story. It's a story about brain-washing and fanaticism. Bright is our main heroine and she has been brain-washed by her father. Her father has been talking about the end of our world and that we should prepare for the end and lot's of stuff about heaven and hell. The consequences were even more brutal than the lies. We got to see the events unfold from Bright and Sam (the boy that likes Bright) perspectives. Sam that relies the lies and Bright, who can not see through the deception. It was painful to be in Bright's mind because she was a victim to his father's false beliefs. Similar things are happening in different countries in our world, is there a way to stop this before something terrible happens? 5 stars. 3. The Angriest Man by Lisa McMann Lisa McMann is one of my favorite author and I adored her "Dream Catcher" series. But O don't understand this story at all, and I wasn't sure what kind of message she wanted to relate to us readers. I have no clue. 1.5 stars. 4. Out of the Blue by Meg Cabot It's an alien story. A traditional alien story about aliens who wanted to invade the earth by planting a blue "device" on children whose parents worked for the government, military etc. to gain access to secret information. Lot's of character perspectives and a love story here and there. It was an ok story, but not epic enough to leave a impression on me. It had it humorous moments. 3 stars. 5. One True Love by Malinda Lo Don't have any objections to same sex couples, but it's not my cup of tea. 1 star. 6. This Is a Mortal Wound by Michael Grant Told from a boy's perspective and the writing style were different from other stories since it was written like HE was telling US his story. It was like a monologue. Hilarious at times and telling us what kind of impact technology innovations will have on our lives in the future, and the role of Internet. What's the importance of knowledge when it's constantly changing? Why are we going to school and learn about things that could change it's meaning in the future? It was a little boring at the beginning of the story but it got interesting at the end. 4 stars. 7. Misery by Heather Brewer Just by the story’s name you will be able to guess that the story is about misery; living in misery or just being miserable. But I thought it was an inspirational story that takes on this emotion that we all people have experienced in life. It has a deeper meaning than what I thought at the beginning and it left you with a good-feeling rather than a miserable one at the end. We should bring more colors and happiness to the world rather than only dark/grey and sadness. 4.5 stars. 8. The Mind Is a Powerful Thing by Matt de la Peña Being too superstitious will have an opposite effect. I really liked this story but it got a rather sad ending. What kind of things drove our main character, Joanna, to being so superstitious? Is it “wrong” to take precautions of horrible things that’s happening around us, or could happen to us? Nothing wrong with that but if you take it too far, there’s no turn back. And that’s exactly what happened to Joanna. She believed/thought that she knew what will happen based on a prediction that she got from an fortune cookie, which led to an accident that she has caused and could never take back. Just what the title said: the mind is a powerful thing. 5 stars. 9. The Chosen One by Saundra Mitchell Also a very great story about sisterhood (no matter status), determination/braveness and love (no matter appearance). I wasn’t the Chosen One. What distinguishes me is that I chose myself. 4.5 stars. 10. Improbable Futures by Kami Garcia This story really got right to my heart. ”Fate will deal you a fair hand”, and it really does. 4.5 stars. 11. Death for the Deathless by Margaret Stohl A sexy story about the end of the world, but it wasn’t really the end of the world, isn’t? The ending were a bit confusing, so there was a mastermind behind this underworld war just to get rid of the underworlders? 3 stars. 12. Fate by Simon Elkeles Such a sweet love story, love it! Willow managed to open up Carson’s heart and what a heart-warming sight it was. Fate brought them together and you shouldn’t dwell in the past for things that you parents did. Because they were like that doesn’t mean you will become like them. Everyone have a choice. 5 stars. 13. The Killing Garden by Carrie Ryan This is also an amazing story with lots of details and great character-development. Don’t make a choice that you think your parent’s will approve, but one that it’s your heart’s desire. Tanci did just that at the end and she found one person that could really see through her cloak as a Gardener (the Emperor’s “killing machine”). 5 stars. 14. Homecoming by Richelle Mead A Rose and Dimitri story that take place after the last book in the Vampire Academy series, The Last Sacrifice. I’ve read all of the books in that series so I’m familiar with the setting and terms that Richelle used. Rosmitri are really meant for each other! Loved to see them once again and being badass at killing Strigois. Dimitri’s grandmother is so funny LOL Every story in this anthology are related to the prophecy and prediction theme, and Yeva (Dimitri’s grandmother) is the key person in this aspect *wink* 4.5 stars. Average rating: 3.96 stars ~ 4 stars.

We all wanted an epilogue to Rose and Dimitri’s story. We all wanted more after the stunning conclusion that was Last Sacrifice and Richelle Mead? The romance between Rose and Dimitri was as passionate as ever. I loved reading about the little moments they had together and the pure chemistry that they have. Yeva was still the rude yet loveable grandmother. I have to say she was my favourite character in the story. I know, I know. People are sending me weird looks right now. But honestly? I may not love her more than Dimitri but there’s something about that old crazy bat-lady which makes my heart grow fonder. If you guys want to know where you can read it other than on Richelle Mead’s official website, it can be found here. I had trouble finding this short story and had to surf through my other sources to find it.

I really, REALLY wanted more romance! They had some good moments but then the infamous "fade to black" took over unfortunately. And naturally it was too short but really...I was just happy to read about Rose and Dimitri and they could've just been cleaning their weapons as long as they were together! I've practically been waiting for this forever. So, you can imagine my disappointment when I started reading eagerly and turned the page after about thirty minutes and saw the acknowledgments. I really don't understand why this couldn't have been offered separately because I basically paid $13 for about 40 pages, but these two .... reading about them again made me realize how I missed them. The interaction between Yeva and Rose made me want to laugh out loud. However, Rose felt really flat to me as if she weren't her usual self. The humor was there but something was missing. Also, there weren't enough Dimitri-Rose moments which I was expecting much of. Overall, Homecoming by Richelle Mead is an enjoyable story for VA fans I wouldn't go rushing to the nearest store to buy it though, I'd probably wait for the library to have it.

Homecoming "I haven’t even really tried to win you over, Roza. When I want to, I can be very persuasive." I really, really, really missed my Rozka. I didn't even realize how much until I read this. I was smiling like an idiot the whole time! I don't think I'll ever get tired of these two. It's nice that they get happy moments like these. After everything they've been through in VA, they definitely deserve this! Now I need a Rozka wedding. Preview of the story can be found HERE. I simply loath this type of commercial stunt. Why couldn't the short story about Rose and Dimitri be either sold separately or given for free? It's very common for renowned authors to write short stories and present them to their readers as a sort of thank you. But unfortunately there are those who are too greedy and they want to milk it till no end. One more point against Richelle and the team behind her. I simply loath this type of commercial stunt. *THIS REVIEW IS FOR RICHELLE MEAD'S 'HOMECOMING' ONLY* Wow, that's all I can say right about now. Revisiting the Vampire Academy world is not a new thing these days, what with the Bloodlines series continuing the VA adventures; but revisiting in the mind of Rose Hathaway - AMAZING! It was incredible the way I fell back into Rose's *THIS REVIEW IS FOR RICHELLE MEAD'S 'HOMECOMING' ONLY* Wow, that's all I can say right about now. Revisiting the Vampire Academy world is not a new thing these days, what with the Bloodlines series continuing the VA adventures; but revisiting in the mind of Rose Hathaway - AMAZING! I had been missing Rose's voice for so long. The brief glimpses we've had of her in Bloodlines were not enough to keep my need for more Rose from making me go insane. It was incredible the way I fell back into Rose's head without effort at all. It was like greeting an old friend, there was no effort getting used to her style of narrating. It was just Rose. I loved seeing the interactions between Rose and Dimitri (*sigh* Dimitri) But even better was seeing them together again in Russia - minus the Strigoi-Dimitri issues. Dimitri's home always brought up sad thoughts and images, but it was good to see it in a different light. What I love about the story is that it's not just about Rose and Dimitri and seeing Dimitri's family again. When Rose is around, you can expect trouble and it usually comes in the form of a Strigoi. An old and dangerous Strigoi is praying on the humans. Rose and Dimitri take it upon themselves to set things right. You know what that mean, right? Dimitri and Rose going all badass - Guardian Style! There's snarky comments, Russian vodka and a fight scene at the end. What more could you want? (a longer story...because you can never get enough Rose and Dimitri!) 5/5 stars

I absolutely loved this! I just found out about this today, and it's a great short story with Rose and Dimitri. When I found about this I was like: I really like this because in the last book, I was wondering why no one had contacted Dimitri's family and this wrapped things up nicely. It's hilarious, still action-packed, and just really sweet. I actually found myself crying because I really miss my favorite duo. Hats off to Richelle Mead for a great novella. I don't care what anyone says, Rose and Dimitri are the BEST YA couple EVER! This short story has me craving for more Romitri. Reading about them, secure in their relationship was just amazing. Made me so happy. Thank you Richelle for creating such beautiful characters, and please continue to give us more of their story. Since I'm a fan of Rose and Dimitri, both as separate characters and as a couple, I was very excited about 'Homecoming'. Naturally, all the relatives are happy about the news, and the celebration is in order. But, of course, there are very few moments when Rose and Dimitri can truly relax. And just like that, they are once again doing what is their purpose - fighting a strigoi.Rose and Dimitri are very cute to each other through out the whole story. They are very much in love, and there was one special moment, when a possible wedding was mentioned. I just love these two. What's so great about Rose and Dimitri is that they are absolutely strong and independent as persons, but being together they make each other even better. The fighting scenes was just like many others in the 'Vampire Academy' books, very intense and graphic. Of course, there's no need to say who won. It was entertaining, only I wish the story focused more on Rose and Dimitri' life and plans for the future. I imagine even if they can be together now openly, it's not that easy with their jobs. Other than that, the novella was a very nice conclusion to this wonderful series.

I wanted to go back to this world and these characters, and while I enjoyed it, I have to say I expected a lot more. It was just an ok read, it could have been better. Characters felt a little bit different and I wanted to see more romantic scenes between Rose and Dimitri.

Homecoming by Richelle Mead 4 Stars I really needed this short story back when I finished the last VA installment a while ago. I was never quite over the little scene where Dimitri p!ssed me off with his horrible words to Rose, so after all this time I can finally say… okay Dimitri maybe I can start to fall for you all over again. Maybe he does stand a chance for me in Bloodlines after all… who knows?? Anywho, Homecoming takes place immediately after The Last Sacrifice where Dimitri and Rose head to Siberia so he can reunite with his family after his Strigoi turning. During their visit, they are asked to help bring down the Blood King that’s responsible for many killings in the area, so they head to the hills with the help of another Dhampir. I really enjoyed reading about Rose and Dimitri fighting together once again. There were moments in this short story that I feel would have been a perfect inclusion in The Last Sacrifice as it provided the needed elements to complement their final story. Perfectly told! AND… I can’t wait to see Yeva’s prediction come to fruition!! Gentlemen Send Phantoms by Laini Taylor 4.5 Stars Okay, I’m stating an obvious fact…. Laini Taylor is a gifted story teller and this short story of Gentlemen Send Phantoms is just one example of her gift. She’s able to accomplish what many authors struggle with when delivering a short story… an abbreviated tale packed with several layers of depth and substance. She had the characters fully fleshed out, the lore delivered in gold trimmings, and a plot that feels complete despite the limited pages. This story truly is the heart of Foretold. Worth it’s price by far! In this story, we meet three friends (Ava, Elsie and Cathy.. aka Pippen) who gather on St. Faith’s Day to bake a cake to lure forth the phantom of the man they’ll each marry. Each girl has her heart set on Matthew Blackgrace, but only one girl will see his phantom after dark. What unfolds is an original and captivating tale that was nothing short of entertaining. Laini proves once again what a great writer she truly is. Well done!

Some of the stories are okay, a few of them are outstanding but as a whole this story collection book is on the disappointing side, here's my comment on each story: Laini Taylor's r's Gentlemen Send Phantoms feels very average, the writing is nice and the story is descent and interesting, but it's nothing too outstanding. 3.5 stars. But nothing is clearly explained, for example I still know nothing about why the townies were put here and unable to escape in the first place. 3 stars. The short story about alien spaceship by Meg Cabot is funny, filled with a lively sense of humor and wits. 3.5 stars. Homecoming by Richelle Mead is an okay-ish short story, but I don't really like it so much. 3 stars. The Chosen One: 4 stars. The concept of The Angriest Man is refreshing, but the story itself feels too rushed, making the story looks unfinished. The Mind Is a Powerful Thing has potential, but the ending isn't strong enough. 2.5 stars. Burned Bright is a very good story about cult and the end of the world.5 stars. The short story by Michael Grant doesn't make much sense and it looks pointless because the story only tells us this bitter old maiden type female teacher is crazy and evil, and she kidnaps teens only because she is crazy and evil. Although Mr. Grant did try very hard to make the tone of the story sound funny. I will continue to stay away from Michael Grant's books. Simone Elkeles's Fate: Don't like it at all. 1.5 star. The Killing Garden by Carrie Ryan: the writing is decent but the plots are highly predictable, although the story setting is refreshing. The short story by Kami Garcia is pretty good, the story is effective, the writing is nice and the ending is nice as well. 4 stars. The short story by Margaret Stohl: it's not as good as the story by Ms. Stohl's fellow coauthor Kami Garcia. 3 stars.

We are first introduced to Dimitri's family in Blood Promise(which is my favorite book in the series where Rose is concerned), when Rose visits them in the hopes of finding clues on Dimitri's whereabouts after he was turned. In this short story Dimitri and Rose go to Siberia for a visit about two weeks after the events of Last Sacrifice. Dimitri still tries to fight his demons from the time he spent at the dark side and to make this happen he has to confront his family. The novella doesn't give us much insight in anything concerning Rose's and Dimitri's life after the last VA book but at least we get to see them as a couple a little. Dimitri is still his reserved shelf but a little more playful with Rose, which was nice to see. In my opinion the spotlight in this story was stolen by Yeva who is the best granny ever. I loved how she could rile up Rose so easily(and I think she did it on purpose!). I don't know why but when I think of Yeva the evil witch from Snow White comes in mind. But she's not evil. Just annoying. The story was short and cute and I definitely had fun reading it.
