A lot of readers would hate Nine because of him being obnoxious. But I don't know why I didn't have the slightest disapproval of his character. Or maybe I already guessed that there's something behind that pretense. A lot of readers would hate Nine because of him being obnoxious. Reading this book, I have learned the real "Nine". Having the fact that I found him being such a jerk to Four, I judged him too harshly. Now that I've read his part of the story, I can see why he became like that. It's funny because behind that strong facade of his, lied a very distinct character similar to that of four. Just like Four, his Cepan died because of a stupid decision he made (Choosing to stay because of a girl). Unlike him though, Nine became more mature and reserved. Just like Four, his Cepan died because of a stupid decision he made (Choosing to stay because of a girl). Unlike him though, Nine became more mature and reserved. What can we say? The hardships and pain he had to endure in that cell would definitely change a person.. (Six?) Overall, I found Nine as the bravest and strongest of all the Garde characters I have known so far. He ended the life of the very person who took care of him and loved him as his own son, in an act of mercy. His legacies are superior too, giving only him the power of gravity. In regards to strength, Nine is definitely the strongest. If by chance Four is not the inheritor of Pittacus Lore's legacies, Nine must be it then (Hands down). P.S. Even with all the praise I'm giving him right now, my favorite Garde is still Six :))

I was a little apprehensive about getting into Nine's head. One of things I loved most about his character when introduced in The Power of Six was his mysteriousness. He was awesome from the get-go, and I was nervous to really hear his thoughts. I must say, I was surprised. Although his story starts off differently than I imagined, it sets his character even more. Who he was at the beginning and who he is now are quite different--and very much in a good way. I liked seeing his character growth o I was a little apprehensive about getting into Nine's head. It was really nice to get Nine's full story. I have a much better understanding of why he is so stoic. I didn't enjoy him very much in The Rise of Nine (which I read before this), but I can now see the reason for many of his attitudes and choices. My impression of him was mirrored by how Four sees him through his narrative. Nine, in The Rise of Nine, came across as brutish and irresponsible. Not judgmental in a bad way, per-say (hide spoiler)] , just misjudged via lack of background knowledge. The fact that he had only one encounter (view spoiler)[with a human, who was a cute girl... who led him on... then stabbed him in the back and got him captured,... then he had to not only watch her die... but had to endure months of torment... then after his cepan was caught,... he had to watch Sandor be tortured... then had to mercy-kill Sandor after all the Mog's torture got to be too much - having had to watch all Sandor's fingers come off one by one... and eventually realizing that his capture has spanned over a year's time.. I mean, holly crow! These are the kinds of things that would make any person insane. For Nine to be a little stir crazy, and ready for Mog-Killing-Action is widely appropriate under the circumstances. I am actually pretty amazed he is as put together as he is and that he can joke at all! (hide spoiler)] I would say that so far, Nine has become my second favorite Garde. If I had to list them all in order of like-most to like-least, it would be something like this: Four, Nine, Eight, Seven, Ten, Six, Three, One, Two, & lastly Five (view spoiler)[Though, I've yet to meet Five of course (hide spoiler)] . :D To date, I have read the first three Lorien Novels and the first 3 Lost Files' books (all that are currently published).

Nine is one of my favorite characters in the series. It's interesting to see things from his perspective and understand what he's been through that has shaped him into the person he is. As reckless as he sometimes is, he is definitely one of the strongest Garde. Nine is one of my favorite characters in the series. Giving this two stars pains me. But Nine is one of my favorite characters and honestly this novella didn't really quite do him justice. I wasn't a huge fan of the romantic element (a common trend in these books) and I wish there was more about Nine as Nine, instead of Nine as the boy who fell in love at first sight and made stupid decisions about a girl who is frankly unimpressive. What is it with the guys in this series? Are they all going to become stupid for girls? Nine starts out reckless and arrogant, making a stupid decision because he's bored and then inevitably facing the consequences. But that's not enough it seems, because he acts childishly, too, freezing out his cepan at a very crucial time because he 'needs time'. Sure, why not worry the guy to death and have your pity party trusting someone you shouldn't trust and ignoring almost everything you've been taught? What is it with the guys in this series? I enjoyed this far better than Six's legacy. This is because of 3 reasons. The first reason being it wasn't redundant in a sense. You can read all about six's past and how she got her legacies if you read all 3 of the books already. Even if Six's legacy was compiled in one short story where I could easily connect the dots, I didn't get a fresh perspective on her character. This is unlike Nine's legacy mainly because I got to know Nine better. I finally understood why he was being so mean to Four I enjoyed this far better than Six's legacy. This is because of 3 reasons. He became more likable and the author succeeded in trying to make him look good. The second reason is because he made nine look dreamy. I mean come on, who wouldn't fall for a really shy bad boy with super powers and great hair? And lastly, the third is well because I just like it better hehehe

I actually intended to read Nine's Legacy after reading The Rise of Nine. Which for a second thought, is wrong. As my friend send me a suggested pattern of reading the IAN4 series, I immediately stopped reading The Rise of Nine and went to Nine's Legacy. Nine's character in the book The Power of Six is something I find to be interesting. As I've said before, Nine's my crush, of all the Garde.. so far. (I still don't know Five and Eight's gender eh.) Like he thought that he wasn't raised as a Garde, which on some point is true. But I just think he had a peaceful 5 year stay in Chicago and that is really lucky for him. But I also get his point, he likes to fight, it's his nature. And now that he's got it, the consequences are layed down. And then there goes Maddy. The very flirty girl that comes his way. I knew it from the start that Maddy's character is so suspicious to the point that she's being desperate of getting Nine into her. I knew it! Her hidden agenda is probably one of the main reasons for Nine's capture. Nevertheless, I can't fully blame Maddy, of course even I would trade anything just for my parents. But then again, the Mogs are so evil. Poor Maddy. But my Nine is poorer. :( Imagine killing his own Cepan? NINE: Antigravity. Enhanced hearing. X-ray vision. OH NINE, I AM LOVING YOU MORE. I wonder what you look like. I think I want to meet you someday. Don't worry, I'm a Garde too. Hahaha. Okay I guess that's all the nonsenseness I can think of, for now. Next in line: Fallen Legacies! No idea what this is all about.

From the title itself, we can assume that we’re going to be seeing a snippet on Nine’s life. When the first short story of I Am Number Four: The Lost Files came out, it was about Six. I enjoyed the book but since I’ve already read the Power of Six (Lorien Legacies #2) prior to it, I felt that it was sort of a letdown since I’ve caught a glimpse of it from Power of Six. Alright, I’m babbling about those books when I’m supposed to be talking about Nine’s Legacy (Lorien Legacies #2.5). So, what’s my point behind all that? Well, Six’s life was very interesting but I have to say that Nine’s story was way, way, WAY better! Truly every man’s downfall begins with a girl. Oh poor Nine/Stanley. All it took was crushing on a beautiful girl and the lack of variation in his everyday routine to make his comfortably lavish life crumble in front of him. I never really played favorites when it comes to books with a set of leading characters but right now, Nine is my favourite among the characters from this series. This short preview of his life was all it took for him to touch my heart. Again, I really enjoyed this book. And I can’t wait for the Rise of the Nine (Lorien Legacies #3). One thing I hope for though: is that there would be NO FREE REPEAT of this on the third book. Please! A few sentences or so would be fine but if this comes out like how Six’s story came about – NOT OKAY! It would just spoil the experience.

Nine's Legacy digs into Nine's POV and shows us how Nine was and what has shaped his character in the Lorien Legacies series. Nine was quite sheltered by his Cepan until a Mogadorian follows him home and Nine is forced to make his first kill. His Cepan encourages him to experience a normal life (well, a normal human life) and this sets off a chain of events that eventually lead to Nine being held captive in a Mogadorian mountain base for a year before Sam and Four rescues him (in The Power of Si Nine's Legacy digs into Nine's POV and shows us how Nine was and what has shaped his character in the Lorien Legacies series. Before we met Eight, Nine was my favorite. I loved his funny, obnoxious character. He was a nice change of tone from Six and John who were more serious. I always knew he was a softy at heart, which is usually the case with characters like him. FINALLY reading from Nine’s perspective made me realize how similar he is to the other characters. The way Nine thinks and talks about Maddy is the same way John does about Sarah... it made me realize how deep down, Nine must have felt lonely in the main series. No wonder he was hard on John. He saw a bit of his old self in him, but he still loved him all the same. Nine’s wishes about being able to fly, too, really capture his sense of isolation and longing for a real, normal life. It was a lot like how John felt - wishing and wanting a normal life with Sarah. A nice, quiet life. I also realized why Nine was so excited at the prospect of Five being able to fly; it was what he always wanted. If things didn’t turn out the way they did, maybe Nine and Five could have even been friends. They share the same sense of "I want to fly away, somewhere, just escape everything." I wish we could’ve gotten some of Nine’s perspective in the main series. Maybe we’ll get that in the sequel series (I haven’t read it yet). I could read a whole book just from Nine’s perspective. His story is by far the most difficult one. What he went through, especially on his own, having to endure both Maddy’s horrible, gruesome death, and needing to kill his Cêpan out of mercy, they all make his headstrong character make sense.

I would have been okay with the chapters being linked together better. If you wanted Sci-Fi, you could probably have been more engrossed in an episode of Star Trek. Nine takes on the alias of Stanley before his capture, and it almost would have been better as a log in to a diary instead of the point of view chapters which mesh with the first book in the I Am Number Four series. Unfortunately, I wasn't consulted on that decision so I point it as something which doesn't work. You can breeze right through it in an afternoon. It doesn't mean I want to be told every little thing that happens with the Mogadorians rather than shown.

This book is a little teaser - it gets you back in the action and a refresher on the Lorian saga, but it does drag in a few spots with #9's moodiness. This is more of a background filler novella vs. a book. I felt a little ripped off at $3.99 as it didn't take long to read this and there wasn't much substance to it. I am Number Four The Lost Files Nine's Legacy is a companion book to the I am Number Four series. The story focuses on Nine and his Cepan. It is very short and just adds a bit of back information adding in more about how legacies develop. It also showed the human side of Nine as he fumbled his way with talking to a girl and eventually going out on a date. I mainly read it since I am working on finishing up series and extra stories before I start more new series.
