This was an engaging account of people recalling and reliving their dreams. The way in which Randal walked people through the depths of their dream symbols, encouraging them to experience the dream from the points of view of both living and nonliving things in the dream was revelatory. How you could have a dream that you're on a bus and perhaps the most powerful symbol is yourself as the bus to bring all of the other metaphors and symbols together to make sense of your walking life. This process is called "Gestalt therapy" . Apparently it works very well in combination: with dream recall/reliving while being guided in the relaxed state of hypnosis. ...Randal explains the necessary background during the first 50 pages. After some transcripts, there is a chapter on hypnotically induced dreams, and one on regression therapy. All together there are 16 transcripts. Some of them are touching. ...The book is nontechnical and easy to read. ...This book is valuable to me because it opens a way for me to learn from my dreams. I also learned more about the potential of hypnosis, gained a better sense of what makes us all "tick", & feel it helped open the door wider into accepting and working with all kinds of feelings. ...Personally I liked the first 200 pages more than the last 79 pages. ...I expect to reread it and have ordered Randal's book on regression therapy.
