Joan's stories of her childhood set the stage for who she is today. One of her current passions is digging wells in Togo, Africa, where she has helped build three wells and a fourth is in the works! The profits from this book will help fund well projects. Joan's stories of her childhood set the stage for who she is today. This is a beautiful tale of a time gone past. Joan was born on the tail of the depression and unravels the adventures she had as a child attending 25 schools before she was in 5th grade. Joan was born in a shack without running water to a single mom. You will love her adventures and always positive outlook on life, seeing the humor and love of other people. It is a great book for reminiscing. The songs and poems included, many of the people that were born in the 30s will remember. Life was so mu This is a beautiful tale of a time gone past. Life is an adventure, should be her motto. Joan became a Christian as a high school sophomore after hearing Mrs. Billy Sunday preach. She dropped out of school her junior year and enrolled in a 4-year Bible college in Florida. Her present life and adventures are even more amazing, and I hope she write another book of her years serving as missionaries in Africa. This wonderful woman earned her Master in Library Science and has worked as a medical librarian in New York and Idaho. She stays involved in missions by travelling all over the world building libraries, giving health lecturres, and teaching medical goverment databases to missionaries, pastors, government officals and local people. Soroptimist Women's Forum awarded her the Woman of the Year 2008.
