Since his trusted Dom’s death three years ago, though, the thought of submitting makes him panic. A Christmas Eve crisis pushes them both to their limits, leaving them no choice but to let go of the past...or let it pull them apart. Ok i enjoyed this one, but honestly it was way to short for me to get emotionally invested. For me, BDSM stories (and short stories in general) need to pull me in emotionally, and this for me didn’t accomplish that. I liked Derek and Glen, but Glen had far to many issues for this short story. This would have been a much better read for me personally had it been longer and deeper into these two men. The scene with Glen’s mother felt like it was added to prove what an ass his mother was. Came out of left field and left just as quickly, felt forced. And the scene with Glen and Derek’s mom and the hot chocolate, again felt fake. But, of course the sex was hot! This story did nothing to increase or decrease my enjoyment of this series. 3 “meh” stars.

I love this series, and despite this being a short it certainly met and exceeded my expectations. Glen Rhodes stumbles upon a BDSM website at the age of 17, making him realise that what he wants/needs is to be a submissive, which he eventually finds through John, ex CIA, much older and an experienced Dom. When John dies, Glen is at a loss both mentally and physically for years without a Dom, unable to trust anyone enough to let them in.........Until, one night when he returns to the Leather Club w I love this series, and despite this being a short it certainly met and exceeded my expectations. There he meets Derek........Both of them lonely and looking for a part of themselves that had been missing for so long. OMG...The interaction between Glen and Derek was so intense, it left me holding my breath in anticipation (I did breath eventually....:). Derek is so considerate of Glen who is reluctant to let himself go and take on a new Dom. He understands Glen and knows how to give him the love.....and Kink he is so desperate for, not pushing him too hard, so he is again able to trust in someone again. Their connection is palpable from the beginning. I would have loved this to have been longer but it gives you enough background information to connect with the characters and to understand how they got the were they are. Next one is out in June.....bring it on!!!! can't wait:):):

In another fascinating volume of the 'Men of Honor' series, S.E. Jakes tackles the theme of loss and second chances. Of course, it isn’t as easy as it sounds, as each of the two main characters has some very specific issues on top of the fact he has lost a loved partner. Jakes tackles the theme of loss and second chances. Of course, it isn’t as easy as it sounds, as each of the two main characters has some very specific issues on top of the fact he has lost a loved partner. Personal preferences and needs come into play, as do their professions and "what friends and family might think". Combining all these elements and spinning them into a tale results in a psychologically interesting story that is as much about the men finding themselves as it is about them finding love. Glen may be tough on the outside, and he has his life together as a Navy SEAL pilot, but internally he is in deep trouble. His Dom died a few years ago, the man who saved him form his own family, and the one attempt he made to find someone new ended in complete disaster. Glen has such a hard time trusting now, that only utter despair and the burning need for someone to tie him down drives him to trying again. And while trust in Derek not hurting him physically does slowly grow, Glen has a lot more trouble opening up emotionally. So much, that is about to lose everything when the situation comes to a head. Derek is immediately attracted to Glen, and while his needs are not as urgent, he can relate to Glen's issue. Derek lost his sub a few years ago, experimented for a while but hasn't found anyone who is right for him, who can fascinate him in the long run. Derek is pretty good at understanding what Glen needs, and more than ready to give it to him, but even his monumental patience runs out eventually. The crisis, when it hits, is intense for both of them, and only their beginning love might be able to get them through it. Just the kind of emotional roller coaster I really enjoy. This story has its own intensity. In this case, it comes less through external elements and more via the internal conflicts and deliberations going on in both men's heads. If you like emotionally intense stories, if you enjoy the more complicated relationships where each man has to figure himself as well as his partner out, and if you're looking for hot and passionate lovemaking, you will probably like this book. #3 in the Men of Honor series. I really loved this one. Have a soft spot for military, so it had me there, as did the others. Glen is a pilot, constantly flying into to harms way. He's a sub who has lost his Dom and can't find the nerve to trust another. It leaves him needy and wound up tight. Derek is a Dom, who has lost his sub. He's looking but is very wary of finding another. This becomes the story of two who have lost. Two who need to find trust again. In the end, it's all about trust, wh #3 in the Men of Honor series. He consulted his coaches and shrinks but none of them could find any reason for his attacks and both his physical and mental toughness began to suffer. It wasn’t until he saw BDSM porn on the Internet that he realized what he might be missing :) and he snuck into a leather bar at 17 where he met John, his first Dom. Realizing how young he was but obviously not concerned that he was underage, John who was 25 years older, taught Glen about being a submissive and took him in after he had a major falling out with his Christian parents about his homosexuality. He lived with John until his eighteenth birthday when he joined the Navy, and their relationship continued during his enlistment until John’s death at 47. Glen’s job as a helo pilot was extremely stressful because he was responsible for a lot of lives during combat missions, and he needed to come down from the adrenaline rush during his flights. A D/s relationship apparently gave him the tools to go on with his normal day to day life. :) After he lost John Glen was adrift personally since he couldn’t find another Dom who understood his needs. Glen’s professional life as a Navy helicopter pilot could not have been better but he missed what the D/s lifestyle gave him. He went to bars occasionally for sexual release but he stopped looking for a replacement Dom. Enter Derek who had lost his submissive in a car accident a few years before. When Glen walked into the leather bar the connection was immediate. Derek realized that he was the person he had been looking for all his life and he wasn’t about to let anyone else have him. They started out as the typical Dom/sub but Derek wanted more and gradually emotions crept into their relationship, but Glen wasn’t ready – it could have been the 10 year age difference between them, Derek was 37 to Glen’s 27. I enjoyed the protagonists and I thought that the author did a good job on them as they were both well drawn. Glen was obviously hurting emotionally because he still had not recovered from John’s death all those years ago, although his needs had evolved since then. He also had major trust issues after being physically and emotionally abused by another Dom. With so much baggage he needed to feel safe and Derek recognized this and made sure that his needs were met. I did have a few niggles. This book has S.E. Jakes’s signature – homophobic and abusive parents. I wish she would let this old chestnut die a natural death and come up with more imaginative plots. Also, Glen had sex with John when he was just 17 and their relationship continued until John’s death. It seemed to me that a 42 year old would not have had much in common with Glen other than teaching him the basics about sex and being a sub. But maybe it was possible that they cared enough for each other to have a 5 year relationship. The other problem I had was that Glen's mother stormed into the apartment while Derek was taking care of him. Since they had been estranged for 10 years after his parents kicked him out it seemed unlikely that she would have access to his address as he had enlisted in the Navy at 18 and moved away as far as possible from his parents, so how did she find him at such a critical time when he was ill? BTW BDSM as a cure-all for panic attacks? :) Kind of a huge stretch but what the heck, this is fiction. The D/s aspect of the book was relatively mild and only involved restraints and spanking, so even if you’re not into BDSM you might want to give this book a try. Of course there is a high level of sex since this is a BDSM story but if you like lots of sex in your books there is more than enough hot and heavy action. The MCs were three dimensional and I genuinely liked Derek and Glen. The prose and dialogue also worked most of the time and I have no hesitation recommending Ties That Bind despite the niggles I had about this book. NOTE: This book is a standalone and is not really part of the Men of Honor series although the publisher lists it as book 3. None of the characters in the previous books appear in Ties That Bind

Well, I had actually been hoping this would be 'TomCat's/Clint's' story, but since it was so short, I guess it was okay that it wasn't (there better be one coming up...) This book added another BDSM club into the series, and another cast of characters, but was way too short of a story for me to feel any resolution or much connection to the characters. Oh, well. I will hold out hope and buy the next one :) Well, I had actually been hoping this would be 'TomCat's/Clint's' story, but since it was so short, I guess it was okay that it wasn't (there better be one coming up...) I liked this, but I was left wanting more. I would have loved to have flashbacks to get more insight on Glen and Derek's previous relationships. Everything that I read I enjoyed, I think I would have been more invested in the characters if it was longer. But overall, an enjoyable read. As always, the hotness factor was pretty great! This one is a very personal story of two men meeting and growing together. It was way too short of a story for me to feel a connection to the characters. After the second book in the series, which I did enjoy, this was a disappointment. It's ve0ry disjointed and could easily be fleshed out into something much better.

Good 3.5 ⭐️ While I enjoyed this book, it wasn’t my favourite of the series so far. I liked Glen and understood his need to submit only in the bedroom. I even liked Derek and the way he dealt with Glen. My only niggle was that I think an opportunity was missed to delve further into both men’s past. It would have helped me connect better with both characters I understand that it was about them both moving on, but Derek’s past especially was only skimmed and I wanted more information there

This was kind of a nice in-between novella before the next. It fulfills all the series criteria (tough men, BDSM, emooootions…), but it definitely had a different feel from the last one (luckily, there was not enough room for all those emotional talks the other three guys had, but of course, there was also not enough room for that amount of hot sex!) Very sympathetic characters, and for some reason, I kept getting Special Forces vibes (The series, not the military...Duh). I didn't realize this was a shorty so it ended abruptly for me. Glenn didn't want to submit to just anyone and there were certain things that just weren't for him and Derek was a little gunshy since his last sub had died. Luckily, they were both able to let their guards down and find a new path together without too much angst. I didn't realize this was a shorty so it ended abruptly for me. He visits a club and is picked up by Derek, an experienced Dom and again older than Glen himself. I won't go into all the ramifications of what happens where, suffice it to say that Derek is exactly Glen needs and vice versa, because Derek is still suffering from a loss of his own. Derek is kind, understanding, skilled in the BDSM lifestyle and more than prepared to give Glen whatever he needs, the connection between the two of them obvious from the start. Enjoyed it, but would have liked it to have been a little longer...however that hasn't stopped me from starting book 4.

OK... this seems to be the series for driving me crazy with little tid bits of misinformation... grrr In the blurb, Glen's Dom has been dead for three years, but in the story John has been dead for five years... hmmmm With that having been said, I loved this short look into Glen and Derek's life! Very, very sweet and romantic m/m romance with BDSM in it. I have to admit that I don't particularly find male submissives very sexy or attractive since I am more into alpha males with a dominant streak; however, Glen was very, very sweet and he and Derek made a nice couple...albeit they sure did fall in love awfully quick. Pretty hot sex scenes and quite a few of them considering how short this book is. I would have liked to have seen it be longer. Very pleasant sexy read. I have thoroughly enjoyed this series thus far. Though I love the premise of this book and the interaction between the two MCs is VERY hot, I was a little disappointed because next to the other two previous books this one was simply not as great as them. I really liked Derek and Glen. They were both dealing with loss and had their own private demons. I tend to fall for the tortured souls and these two, especially Glen, were suffering. The BDSM was not too rough, as a matter of fact it was quite sweet and tame...just perfect for me. I think this was my favorite of the series and can't wait for the next book. Jakes is definitely one of the best authors for this style of book. very explicit m/m & m/m/m sex scenes, bdsm elements & sweet romances between strong men. military, mercenary, black ops. obviously some people won't like them but for me these are thoroughly engaging and compelling reads read these books several years ago - loved them then & love them now. Glen and Derek really needed to be more fleshed out. Kind of cardboard-y with background info. Things were fairly rushed and the whole ending with the family and moving in thing didn't ring true. Not memorable. Just an alright read~ Glen and Derek really needed to be more fleshed out. Kind of cardboard-y with background info. As expected for this series... great characters, interesting plot, and a lot of sex scenes. Take them away and there really isn't a story, which is a shame since SE has talent. ~~~ A fun, quick little bdsm romp. Perfect for a little pre-holiday pick me up.
