   As the title of this novel suggests, it is about an Englishman's trip around the world in 80 days. I especially liked the author's thorough research about the different places that the characters visited, and found it helpful for my blog ATriptoEnglish.wordpress.com. I did not like the device to create more tension in the story, because they felt too artificial. Overall, I thought it was a Verne classic worth reading.    It was...interesting. There were some glaring inaccuracies, but the story was entertaining. Definitely dated, though, as shown most clearly in the portrayal of the characters- the damsel in distress female character, the rather dumb but loyal servant, and the apparently flawless and always calm Phileas Fogg.

   Just re-read it this summer. Loved the interesting (although stereotypical) portrayals of various nationalities and their characters-especially the descriptions of Americans versus Englishman.
