This is another great book by Joseph Murphy. I had borrowed it from the library, but I’ve now requested it for my birthday, since it’s a book I have to own. It is Murphy’s basic tenet that it is our birthright to be rich. But we create what we focus on, so instead of focussing on what we lack, we need to focus on wealth. Throughout the book, he provides us with many case histories of people who have become wealthy and successful by using his affirmative prayers and meditations. If you’re bogged down by problems, he suggests this prayer: “Divine wisdom and Divine right action of my subconscious, solve this problem. I release the matter and let it go.” We should repeat the following affirmation for five minutes night and morning: “I am now writing in my subconscious mind the idea of God’s wealth. God is the Source of my supply and all my needs are met at every moment of time and point of space. God’s wealth flows freely, joyously, and ceaselessly into my experience, and I give thanks for God’s riches forever circulating in my experience.” When thoughts of lack come to you such as “I can’t afford that trip” or “I can’t pay that bill”, reverse the thought immediately by affirming “God is my instant and everlasting supply, meeting that need right now.” The book is not just about how to improve one’s finances but also improving one’s relationships, health and resolving any conceivable problems. He informs us that even if we spend five minutes in the morning and evening affirming prosperity but at the same time think and talk about our financial problems, etc, all day, we will not make any progress financially. He tells us we should never underestimate the powers of personally affirming God to be our instant and everlasting supply that never fails. Murphy also gives us a valuable exercise we can do which will bring us love and riches. (It also healed one of his clients of tuberculosis.) For every person you pass, affirm “God’s love fills your soul. The riches of God are yours now.” We are also gifted with a prayer to banish anxiety over debts. “God is the source of my supply. – The money I now possess is magnified and multiplied a thousandfold. --- I turn to the Infinite Presence within, knowing in my heart and soul it opens the way for me to pay all my debts, leaving me a vast surplus. I surrender a list of all these debts in the hands of my Heavenly Father, and I give thanks they are all paid in Divine order. God’s riches are circulating in my life, and I rejoice and am exceedingly glad that every creditor is paid now, and God prospers me beyond my fondest dreams. ---“ In fact, the book is filled to the brim with valuable prayers that can be used to solve multifarious problems. This is an amazing, wonderful book, which provides the reader with invaluable support for all the problems one might have, and I now hope to receive my own copy in the post, perhaps tomorrow.

this book has taught me the art of affirmations as prayer, and vice versa, to be in a constant state of gratitude and acknowledgement of the abundance God is willing and promises to give those who are grateful for it.

I loved the meditations at the end of each chapter, the overload of powerful verses of the Bible in each and every chapter. So many good affirmations/prayers between the stories about people who shared specific situations with the author. I didn't like that many titles of the chapters have nothing to do with what he talks about and I felt that at the end of the book it was mostly about stories and not as deep as the the first half of the book. If I could read a bit of Joseph Murphy every day of my life, I would. His writing is always so uplifting and powerful. Good thing I’ve only read 2 of his many books on offer!

While I do love Joshep Murphy's writings, this book was just too redundant from other books. While I do love Joshep Murphy's writings, this book was just too redundant from other books.

As a reader of success books, I felt compelled to read the works by Joseph Murphy. As with many of this genre of books, there are religious elements throughout. The key for any religion reading these books(I am a Christian) is not to suspend your core beliefs but use them as the foundation for what you are reading. The key for any religion reading these books(I am a Christian) is not to suspend your core beliefs but use them as the foundation for what you are reading. The key concept is that wealth and worthiness are not mutually exclusive or diametrically opposed. He explains that as a creation made after the image of God, we have great creative power through thoughts, words and divine action. There is a focus on the sub-conscious mind and how we gain access to brilliant ideas and perfect action through imagination and focused thought. Meditation exercises are encouraged to bring thoughts created through the conscious mind into "captivity" to allow the subconscious mind to change conditions through positive thought and imagery. As an author of sales and success books, I believe in the concepts and he gives simple, sound advice on using these techniques. He uses real word testimonies that give the reader a chance to correlate the teachings to their own lives. The value of this books and others (by Murphy and various authors) is that they resonate with us and the innate abilities we have as human beings. Like the title "Think and Grow Rich" by Napoleon Hill, the name is misleading. We all desire/need material possessions and that is healthy until the drive for things becomes higher than the desire for service to mankind...again...those are not in opposition and Murphy addresses that in this book. Good supportive reading for those already schooled in success principles, but would not be my first choice for those new to the genre.

Another excellent book of Joseph Murphy in which he pretty much repeats himself, so much so that if you read one book of his you have actually thus read all of them. Same stories, same wonderful prayers, etc. But it doesn't hurt to be reminded often. What is misleading in this book is the apparent emphasis on the word "rich" and the main goal is not money per se as much as it is about being generally rich overall and this would then include money. This book is loaded with positive affirmations. It's "mind over money" and "the power of death & life is in the tongue." In the book, there are plenty of examples of people who have changed their thoughts and changed their words and became prosperous. Why not try some of the techniques and see what happens?
