Sex, Gossip and Rock & Roll was my first book by Nicola Marsh but it won't be the last. I loved the way the book was written, it was fun, real, passionate and emotional and I could really get where Luca and Charli were coming from. Charli owes a lot to her boss and mentor Hector(the music mogul), who took her in and gave her a life when her mother threw her on the streets for her boyfriend. I loved the way the book was written, it was fun, real, passionate and emotional and I could really get where Luca and Charli were coming from. Charli owes a lot to her boss and mentor Hector(the music mogul), who took her in and gave her a life when her mother threw her on the streets for her boyfriend. Charli has made a nice life for herself overcoming her bad childhood, she does have some fear at times but beyond that she loves what she does, managing people, music tours and more but she is not pleased about her latest assignment, work along with Hector's absent grandson Luca. When she meets him, he's clad in a towel and Charli feels an attraction there she doesn't want. Luca has never been around, though is notorious for the women he dates and the charities he works with. Right from the start they light verbal sparks off each other, with Luca first branding her a gold-digger, then wanting her in bed and getting under her skin. Their working so closely together means that they don't get distance from each other. Luca is someone who puts on a good act for the tabloids but it actually tires him. Like Charli he is good at building emotional boundaries because of his childhood. His mother loved his father too much, while he constantly rejected her and him. Luca never felt wanted or needed by any of them and has become adept at not forging ties. They end up in bed one afternoon, but a panicking Charli over her growing feelings tells him let's stop here. Now, Luca is offended so he makes a crack about this being a fling, he knows immediately that he made a mistake and hurt her but habits of a lifetime are hard to break. What I enjoyed in the book was it's realism. Charli was a professional and I liked how she protected herself, even when Luca suggests later that they be together while he's in town. I liked how in the end when Luca finally wises up she didn't make it easy for him. Very enjoyable. ARC received through Netgalley

This is the story of Charli and Luca. Charli is a tour manager about to embark on a come-back tour for ageing rock star Storm Varth (love that name!). She has also been asked by her boss, whom she considers a father figure, to show his grandson Luca the ropes, something she is not happy about in the slightest. Both Luca and Charli have demons from growing up, which has left them with trust issues. These are challenged when they meet and are instantly attracted to one another and they soon begin and affair. This is such a fun book, but it certainly doesn't lack for emotional moments either. The characters are well developed and written flawlessly. Charli's back story is heartbreaking and Luca is complex in all the right ways. The third party characters are great and actually help, rather than hinder, the story (Storm Varth is a hoot, and what a great Rock & Roll name!). Reading this book, I could really feel that Nicola Marsh enjoyed writing it. The locations are beautifully described, the dialogue sparkles, the passion is hot, and the emotional moments are gripping. Oh, and fantastic ending! Nicola Marsh really shows she has a great range of writing skills, whereas the last book of hers I reviewed (Deserted Island, Dreamy Ex) was aimed at the Romance side of the RIVA line, this one is aimed more for Presents/Modern side and therefore more steamy. Nicola switches flawlessly between to the two styles. Definitely recommend this book. Originally posted at http://everyday-is-the-same.blogspot....

Charli at 16 her mother kicked her out of the house and she lived on the streets for two weeks. She was actually sleeping in Hector shed 10 years ago. Hector took her in and gave her a home, helped her graduate and gave her a job. Charli is afraid Luca is back to take advantage of His grandfather. Luca father never acknowledged him but when his grandfather found out he paid for Luca education and set up a trust fund for him. Luca father died 10 years ago and then two weeks later his mother. So he is afraid to get close to anyone. Luca found a lot of pictures of his grandfather and Charli at different events and thinks she is a gold digger. Storm a ageing rock and roll star is trying to make a comeback. Storm also brought his 7 yr old son tiger on tour with him. So he wanted to see some fun places with his son and spend time with him. Storm was a pain who drank a lot but was a good father even with his past at sleeping around. They went panning for gold, down into the gold mine. Sounded like fun. They went to a dragon museum. Tiger was proud of his father. Luca and Charli both have a lot of issues with abandoned by thier parents and are afraid of getting too close, but they do. This is the first time I have read a book by Nicola Marsh but hopefully not the last book of hers that I will read. I was given this ebook in exchange for honest review.

This is a very sexy, flirty book. The two characters are instantly getting under each other's skin upon first meeting, so I enjoyed it very much. They had great chemistry together and that was felt on the page. The reason I couldn't quite give it four stars is because I felt like I was being bashed over the head about the conflict, how both were emotionally flawed, so how both couldn't commit. It felt repetitive rather than revealing more to their past as the story developed. Putting that aside, This is a very sexy, flirty book. I know, I know. Most people are already exiting the review because its a Harlequin book and that's rather sad. As most people know, I love my Harlie's and promote, talk about and holler has loud as I can about them. I chose to read a Presents Extra for a number of reasons. The first reason is that I haven't read one in over a year and secondly, I love Nicola Marsh's Harlequin Romances. I was not disappointed in picking this one up. Charli is a complicated character as first. She is a tour manager I know, I know. Most people are already exiting the review because its a Harlequin book and that's rather sad. The first reason is that I haven't read one in over a year and secondly, I love Nicola Marsh's Harlequin Romances. I was not disappointed in picking this one up. Charli is a complicated character as first. She is a tour manager for the premier record label in Australia. She was literally thrown out of her house at an early age and was picked up by Hector, the label founder; she was mentored, nurtured and grew with his help. The one thing that she really never experienced was love. Luca was Hector's grandson and was never accepted as a member of the family based on his father's never acceptance of him. When Hector needed Luca to tag along with Charli as the finance manager on Storm Varth's (the name is awesome) comeback tour, Luca and Charli didn't expect to fall in love. Ms. Marsh has created two lovable and likeable characters. Charli hides behind her job and her snarky attitude. Afraid to trust herself and her feelings for Luca. Luca, on the other hand, never experienced what it was like to be truly loved and accepted. What started off as flirting and strong innuendo between Charli and Luca ended with hurt feelings and hearts broken. While this is a Harlequin Presents Extra, the bedrooms scenes are tasteful, loving, hot but not graphic. You could lend this book to your mother or grandmother and not be embarrassed. They are emotional and thought provoking. My heart broke for both of them at one time and I really worried about them. The dialogue is crisp, clean and hilarious. The secondary characters are supporting and not intrusive. I highly recommend Sex, Gossip and Rock & Roll for anyone that wants an emotional satisfying read with hilarious flirting and a sigh worthy ending.

Review by Desere: When I think of my favorite song or band I often think of what is must be like for the musician on the other side of that song or band. How personal is their lives really and how do they cope with being in the public eye and do heir relationships actually really stand up to the test or are they really just true playboys? What about the lives of their managers and friends how are they affected by the celebrity status of those they are associated with? What about the lives of their managers and friends how are they affected by the celebrity status of those they are associated with? In Sex,Gossip and Rock and Roll by Nicola Marsh we get a look into the other side of the world the part we as the fans never see and meet the people on the other side of the stage so to speak. Luca Petrelli was inspired by the gorgeous Matthew McConnaughey who I am sure most woman will agree can send any hot blooded woman into overdrive! Now just like Matthew,Luca is irresistibly sexy, cool as ice and a real catch, always in the public eye, very successful, and not the kind to back down when he has his heart set on something or someone for that matter. Unlike Luca, Charli Nash (inspired by Jennifer Aniston) is not the kind to be duped over by some fancy International star and definitely not by Luca ,except the man is so infuriatingly irresistible she cant help it. And very soon into the story she and Luca end up doing much more than just discussing Luca's career. Sex and lots of it, Gossip definitely all the way to every single tabloid in the country and Rock and Roll all night long page after page!! The book is packed with electric passion and and life truly is a song for Luca and Charli's story. Nicola Marsh has outdone herself with this one and it is definitely not to be missed. If you like me and are a big Nicola Marsh fan then you definitely will not be disappointed in this her latest offering of true love overcoming in the most interesting of worlds!

For the real deal read below: Heroine is genuinely fond of the hero's rich and elderly _____ (fill in the blanks with a random relationship though in this case it's a grandpa). She's a real nice girl and kindhearted though with a tough exterior, but the hero thinks she's a gold digger (of course). She, on the other hand, having no close family (nothing surprising here), believes that the hero is a cold-hearted, selfish playboy and should spend more time with said elderly figure. He is drop dead gorgeous, she's pretty bordering on beautiful, and the jadded playboy is impressed and interested (I'm really starting to hate that word) by the loving, loyal heroine who is the first *gasp* woman not to fall on his feet. Of course they have to get over their distrust of each other -they're both as closed as oysters because of their respective hard past- but the attraction between them is explosive and soon they seal the deal but the heroine cannot believe a famous, rich man really cares for her and drama & heartache take the scene. Been there, done that, or more correctly, read that. For fans of the specific troppe, this is a pretty good -if not particularly memorable- version of the old tale. It's one of my least favorite though and I wish I'd known that before I picked the book. ARC provided by NetGalley

One of the threads that caused the nostalgia was the constant verbal antagonism and misconceptions between the hero and the heroine. The near constant bickering was in direct contrast to the heat produced when they finally consummated their physical relationship. I also enjoyed the fact that the story was set in Australia. This was not a main focus in the story, but rather, it just happened to be set there. There were some nice historical/descriptive sections when Charli was investigating places for Storm to take his son, or actually being in those places. It was a nice addition to the tension and bickering described in the rest of the story. Luca, our hero, seems like many – sure of his dominance, and his “rightness”, and out to get what he wants. And Charli, while being a strong, independent woman, is grounded in rejection and self-doubt. Luca’s Grandfather (and Charli’s boss) plays a pivotal role in their relationship. He’s kind of the “tie” that gift-wraps their relationship. Nothing new, nothing ingenious about this story. But a nice read, and one that will put a smile on your face!

SEX, GOSSIP AND ROCK & ROLL is a fabulous story by author Nicola Marsh and would release as Harlequin Presents. Charli doesn’t do love and relationships. She’s spent her life trying to regain power by staying on top of her job, staying in control all the time after being tossed out on the street by her mother when she was sixteen. Saved by music mogul Hector Landry, CEO of Australia’s biggest recording company, she owed him. But surely he was asking too much of her to babysit his grandson? Saved by music mogul Hector Landry, CEO of Australia’s biggest recording company, she owed him. But surely he was asking too much of her to babysit his grandson? But she enjoyed clashing with Luca Petrelli too much! Now it wasn’t exactly babysitting, more of Luca tagging along the concert tour as a number-cruncher. For she found out he was a successful businessman and supporter of various charities. After being rejected by his father numerous times, Luca, himself kept a wall around his heart. Could he allow Charli too close? And will Charli trust that Luca wouldn’t leave her? I loved the dialogue and the sparring between Luca and Charli. The author’s use of witty dialogue is astounding. It’s a truly magical read and a keeper for your shelf. SEX, GOSSIP and ROCK & ROLL is an outstanding story with great tension, good fast pace and a fabulous plot. Nicola Marsh once again delivered a super romance with a strong spirited heroine, a deliciously breath-taking hero and woven a tale which is filled with emotion and sizzle with a very nice happy ever after!

Really enjoyed this book too - whereas Interview with a Daredevil had me with just the mere mention of a George Clooney lookalike this had me at the towel! Fabulously witty dialogue and Luca, well Luca could make you want to do really bad things (in a good way!). And to top it all it's based in the music industry which I just love to read about. Great characters - couldn't put it down! Great stuff - highly recommended. And the repetition. Tedious, tedious repetition. So I think it's a problem of incompatibility of style between me and Ms Marsh, and I won't bother to finish this book.

I have to say all in all...it was a quick, cute read with a pair of hot music executives, so right there you have a fun story!! Worth the read if you like stories about two broken people who find eachother!!

One more uninteresting plot, if we can call it a plot. The story is poor, the characters are so traumatised by their sad past, they seem to be a caricature, and their pseudo chemistry doesn't do the trick. I saw nothing worth the reading here. I was really looking forward to reading this book, but it ended up disappointing me. I love Harlequin Presents books, but this one fell short. It was still a decent and quick read, just not as good as past books.

This title is false advertising; there's not much sex, no gossip, and pitiful rock and roll. It started off ok with some angsty antagonism between the hero/heroine, but then sunk into the same get close, pull away, rinse, repeat, plot. Super Librarian TBR Challenge 2012 January. Category Romance. I liked the characters, but the romance didn't really do much for me. I was hoping it would be a little more Rock & Roll... I good read, but not a keeper. Super Librarian TBR Challenge 2012 January. Category Romance. I liked the characters, but the romance didn't really do much for me. So much is made of the emotional baggage of the main characters that I wanted to send them both to therapy.

This was a cute contemporary romance. It was fun and had a lot of chemistry between the H/h. I wasn't blown away but it was a light read. Perfect vacation/beach book. :) This was a cute contemporary romance. It was fun and had a lot of chemistry between the H/h. I wasn't blown away but it was a light read.
