It has been a long time since I have had the time to sit down and just be a book critic, not properly anyway. Jackson, I have to say was a okay read, it kept me entertained even if the plot was erratic and predictable (if that makes sense). The title pulled me in from the start (and it was seriously a cheap buy on bn.com). I picked it up and was immediately confused on which character to emotionally invest in. The whinny main character Callie, the handsome “soul mate” Brokk, or the deep mysterious stranger who I don't completely trust Kaileen. Not to mention the friends she picks up in the tunnels along the way. By the end the only characters not irritating me with their personalities were the friends! The characters were brought in appropriately but they never developed throughout the whole story! That irritated me that I saw so many things that she could have done just to help the reader understand the character a little more and she didn't. Instead they whined, at least that is what Callie did. She whined constantly, and when she wasn't doing that she was pining for a guy who she had just met! But that is a teenager for you. Callie finds out that she is a fairy princess and is taken underground to live out her life in the castle of the Queen who took over Petrona after her parents flee for Callie's life. She is taken to the castle by a guy who claims “they were meant for each other. ” Oh my god! Really! Once she gets to the castle it isn't all tiaras and glass slippers I can tell you that much. She is a prisoner for the Queen Lillith and the story starts rolling from there. I won't give it away if you haven't read it. If you have not read this little quick read be prepared to be unsure of time periods. Be prepared for a predictable storyline that has little stitch ups in the plot to a messily sew it all together. I mean her attention to detail killed me. I'm not saying this to be mean just that instead of Callie thinking every guy was hot she could have described how he was hot. (I have a vivid imagination and thought of several levels of hotness and wasn't sure which fit.) Or she could have paid more attention to detail period. Okay now that I am done with my little rant/ bashing I will say that this was a nice light read. Nothing that made me moody or depressed when I finished. I was light and in a smiling mood when I was finished. If she wrote a sequel I would read it just to see where the characters are now. Overall I found C.C. Jackson's Stay a pleasant story and would recommend to anyone who is a paranormal YA fanatic.

Why is there a butterfly on the cover of a book about fairies? There's a few things that are a little odd, with Stay. The main issue for me was the writing style, as well as the characters reactions to both each other and the situations. The writing is far too formal, and at times it was as if I am reading a very serious textbook - if this is Callie's voice, she does not speak as a teen or young adult would. Other times, sentences end abruptly and the tense changes. It's just awkward. Additionall Why is there a butterfly on the cover of a book about fairies? I just could not care about them. There are many sentences phrased awkwardly, or do not fit with the writing style. The thing is... I really dislike weak main characters. Characters that need to follow someone, or can't do anything without the one they "love". Callie is one of these characters.. and once this becomes apparent in a novel or series, for me, it's really a point of no return. The novel cannot be redeemed. Still, if you want a quick read and have $0.99 to spare for an e-book, you may still find it to be worth it. There are people who enjoy Stay, obviously. I am just not one of 'em.

The very first thought I had about this book, before reading it: "Why would there be a picture of a butterfly on the cover of a fairy book?" I think that maybe I should have taken it as a sign, but I still bought it. And this book, was kind of stupid. I didn't really like it all that much. I want to make fun of him some more. He kidnaps Callie, knowing that someone could have followed him and would know where Callie's parents were. Stupid act numero uno. Then he gives her to the evil queen. The queen that he knows is evil, but still gives Callie to, thinking that she will be "Rational if we just talk to her." Or something along those lines. Also, he is REPEATEDLY GETTING HIMSELF BEAT UP. He is a member of the queens guard, and Callie was capabled of beating him into unconciousness. Kailen nearly beats him up, and then he goes into the fairy place and comes back beat up by other guard members. I don't like Brokk. This book was not very good in my opinion. I guess it was slightly interesting, but it could have been better.

When reading a book there is a tipping point from when you are sitting on a fence, considering backing a love interest, to when you’ve fallen flat on your face. Hard. I backed Team Brokk from the beginning, because of the way he treated Callie in the caves. But then I was made to feel guilty for doing so because Kailen seemed like an angel after Brokk started to act like a jackass. Arrogance was not in Brokk’s described characteristics therefore his mean behaviour was jackass-ism rather than his normal arrogance. So I adjusted and backed team Kailen only for it to flip again and for Kailen to be the bad guy and for Brokk to be the one who we should really like. I did not like the bounce of this emotional yo-yo. There is a difference between making a lead character’s intentions mysterious and making them bi-polar. There were no clues to me to warn me not to get a vested interest in Kailen. Callie is ... undecided, about her place in society until things go wrong for her. Which I didn’t like. I actually empathise a lot with the selfish heroine because I feel it’s real and honest, but Callie just didn’t seem to care at all until her apple cart was upset by everything. There was not one person she seemed to care for more than herself. There is selfish then there is egotistical, and Callie crossed over to the latter too often for my personal liking. There was no acknowledgment from her of her families involvement in hardships of the fairy people until the end, when her life was on the line. It was kind of like, “I’m going to die unless I sort this out. Better sort it out then.” At one point Callie flips out and beats the tar out of Brokk ... fine ... but it was completely out of line with her character. I was brought to accept Callie was docile, strong willed but gentle in her delivery of this will. Then all of a sudden she’s throwing punches and witty quips like she’s Ali. Throughout the book there is a very adult tone to her actions, but delivered through (in my opinion) a child’s eyes and with a child’s intentions. When Callie’s parents die (a King and Queen), they get taken out so easily. It’s not explained why they supported the usurper Queen by leaving the kingdom, especially when it’s made clear they had loyal supporters. Also, the reason why Callie was worth abandoning a whole city of people for was not impressed upon me. Royalty are supposed to put the people first, but they simply tottered off with their super-special-powerful-baby-Callie into a new life and don’t look back. To me, that does not seem like a worthy royal bloodline to make a fuss over, better off without you quite frankly. All descriptions of the fairy wings were beautiful, and the concept of living in underground caves was a nice touch, but ... the fairies fly. These are not small beings either, but full grown people who are connected to the elements. Why would they go underground? Why not up, into the sky? Again, this point was raised briefly, but not impressed on me, nor did it make sense enough for me to make my own conclusions. I loved the physical manifestations of the elements. Those were superbly done, and I felt they had such character for such small parts. It’s always difficult to give a negative opinion on a book story line, because things are read and interpreted differently by everybody, but for me, Stay had too many aspects that didn’t gel well enough. No doubt readers with a more customary view on fairies will enjoy it much more, and I would encourage you to try it. Wait, wait wait, before I wrap up I need to address the crying. I have a hard time reading about boys or men who cry. There needs to be a damn good reason, like ... the love of his life was tortured and murdered before his eyes even begin to get wet. It seemed like guys in this book needed to toughen up. It’s a god book, possibly Children’s rather than Young Adult, but my view on that readership may be skewed by my own preferences. I will buy and read the sequel, because I’m curious as to where this will lead, and I really did love the elementals.

As a result of Jackson's bombardingly rapid movement of plot, exploring certain events and characters is pretty much out of the question. There isn't enough book to go thoroughly into a subject and conflicts are resolved with relative ease. This book is the epitome of pretty little resolutions wrapped up in bows. I wasn't bothered too much by it, but it's not ideal. I've noted in other book reviews how much I loathe love at first sight (Not in real life folks. In books). Well, imagine my disappointment when she completely surpasses that and accepts a marriage proposal in the second or third chapter of the book. I was momentarily grievous at the utter loss of tense, developed romance. Although there were... complications, the "insta-bond" is still there; however, in a more strained manner, which I am more partial to. It allows for growth and discovery I think. The story, in general, is intriguing. I'm interested in how Callie handles things now that she's gotten herself into the position she's in. I'm also curious to see how her relationships advance and what she learns about her powers. I wouldn't go out of my way to recommend Stay to anyone; but if you're looking for something to pass the time, it is a good book for that.

Stay was a decent short read although the writing was lacking a few things. The book is written in first person as Callie as the protagonist. It was an enjoyable read but not a remarkable debut. This book is about an eighteen year old girl, Callie Rose being kidnapped from her home in the middle of the night into a city, Pretona that she never knew existed. Her kidnapper, Brokk tells her that she's fey, a royal fey whose parents abandon their home for the safety of Callie. Prophecy shows that she's destined to become Queen even though she had no intention to, but she finds that she has no choice and continues on, defeating the tyrant Queen. Torn between two guys, she finds that she can no longer know who to trust. Callie experience things she had never encountered before, but does she have that courage to defeat the Queen? Some of the characters did appeal me, for instance, i loved Tuck and Jenna. I was disappointed in Kailen, finding out that he's a manipulative betrayer. The romance in the book was too vague, it needed more information and detailed description but yet the whole dialogue needed it. Overall, it was an alright book and i'm looking forward to the next installment. For those who loves the fey and a short quick read would love this book. 2.5 stars.

I absolutely cannot stand weak heroines who rely on others to guide them through their life journey. Callie was definitely not one of those people. While she came off as a little whiny sometimes, she certainly stepped up her game by the end of the book and took charge of the situation. She initially tried to avoid her responsibilities but, eventually, Callie came to realize the necessity of her actions and she literally fought for what she wanted and so what she thought was right. The romance, or rather, the love triangle, was also a little rushed and both of the "potential guys" seemed bipolar and weird. But in the end, I approved of Callie's decision with regards to who she should be with. Overall, I recommend this book to anyone with a love of faeries and who are just in need of a quick, and relatively good, read. 3.5 stars

This book was a great short read. I picked it up and finished it within a few hours. It flows really well and keeps you turning the page for more, because you just have to know what is going to happen to Callie next. My only problem with this book was how easily it all did flow. There is an attempt at a love triangle between Callie, Brokk and Kailen, but it was unsuccessful because Callie's emotions towards the two didn't seem very deep or real. Lastly, I noticed several grammatical errors which were kind of annoying, but didn't prevent me from understanding what the author was trying to say. I really enjoyed reading Stay. Callie was an interesting character. She was very determined when she was set on getting something done and I admired that about her. I don't know if that's a good thing or a bad thing, but I'm still waiting impatiently for the next book in the series. :)

This is an unfair rating and review because I've only read about a couple of pages of this book. I just can't bring myself to go on. Callie is just so darn annoying and unrealistic. I can't seem to get over the fact that callie is crushing on the guy who snatched her from her bed, a stranger who kidnapped her. Is she afraid? No. She thinks the stranger who snatched her has beautiful blue eyes. And oh, that he seems to be sad and in pain. Is this girl for real? I literally (not figuratively) slap This is an unfair rating and review because I've only read about a couple of pages of this book. I literally (not figuratively) slapped the screen of my poor ebook reader because of frustration and annoyance. Mind you, I tried twice(!) to continue reading. But I just can't. And I've managed to finish lots of (annoying) books but this one just rubs me the wrong way. But okay, I'll try to give this another chance. I'll try to finish this. Maybe I just need a palate cleanser. Gonna read some other book first.

This was a first-reads giveaway. It didn't impact my review in any way, although it did stretch me into a genre I hadn't read before. If you like books about fairies, this would probably be an enjoyable read. I was hoping I would get past the wings to enjoy the story, but it wasn't like Harry Potter or Twilight where the story is more than the elements. Callie tended to solve her boy problems by punching them out, and I didn't think that was a healthy approach. Other than the female-on-male viol This was a first-reads giveaway. The characters just didn't appeal to me. Since this is a YA book and was clearly aimed at a younger audience, a younger reviewer might give it a better rating.

4.5 rather than 4... Great story for MG/YA readers who love fae and fantasy! The plot was fun and lively, with wonderful descriptions. At times it felt just a tiny bit rushed, and there were a few editing "oopses", but other than that, the story of Callie Rose was quite enjoyable, and I recommend it for those looking for an entertaining and romantic fantasy. I look forward to the further adventures author C.C. Jackson has in store for her characters in this series! 4.5 rather than 4... Great story for MG/YA readers who love fae and fantasy! This book was a nice twist to young adult books, with the protagonist Callie a likable character. It was somewhat a mystery because you can't trust anyone. Callie's change from an ordinary girl to a fairy princess was for the most part smooth despite several leaps. I don't particularly like love triangles, but this one came to my liking. Although it was a nice novel, some peaces such as instant love and Callie's ability to accept being kidnapped were too spontaneous.Overall an entertaining book This book was a nice twist to young adult books, with the protagonist Callie a likable character. I was honestly a bit disappointed in this one. The characters were underdeveloped and the story and actions happened and then moved on to quickly for you to wonder about. A lot of it consisted of the author just stating what happened and not so much of a play by play of conversation. It was a cute read and I liked many parts, but it was not very well written and worth only the .99 cents I spent on it.

I had a few problems with this book first off it kept going back and forth between two guys and both relationships where really rushed and her grammar! Gah I was getting so frustrated! Over all it was an okay read, it just felt like events were just thrown into there and it didn't run very smoothly at all. And another thing *SPOILER ALERT* we never met Callie's parents so I didn't feel a deep sadness when ever they died. This is a short and fast paced book. The main character annoyed me (Kinda like Buffy out of the TV series, Buffy the Vampire Slayer) but I still really enjoyed it. If you are kinda hanging around and want a light fantasy read, this is a good one to pick up. Mind you, the eBook I had was littered with typo's... and lord knows if 'I' see them, there must have been some pretty bad ones. You've been warned grammar natzis!! This is the first book that I have read in years. I know that sounds crazy but I never seem to have time to read anymore between work and kids. I started reading this one night at work on my iPhone and I COULD NOT PUT IT DOWN. Every free second that I got, I was pulling it up and reading it. I can't wait for the next book in the series. I hope that it's out soon! This is the first book that I have read in years. I know that sounds crazy but I never seem to have time to read anymore between work and kids. Stay was an ok book. I think that the author just breezed over a lot of things that would make the book better. It just seemed like it hit the three or four main things in the book and then the end. I don't know if I will read the next book in the series when it comes out. Stay was an ok book. I would've given this a 3.5 if I could. It was enjoyable but not remarkable. I would've given this a 3.5 if I could. It was enjoyable but not remarkable.

I thought Stay by C.C. Jackson was a fun, fast paced book. The story was interesting and so were the characters. I look forward to reading what comes next!

The story line is incredible. But this book needs an edito. Bad. The tense was all over the place, and distracting. I'd give it a second try after a thorough edit. The story line is incredible. Rating: 3.5 stars Although I like the story very much, I got a little bored in the middle of the book and I feel that it ended in a rush. There were things that needed more development.
