this one was more of a disappointment than i was expecting. a huge chunk of it was copied straight from simpson's 'icelandic folktales and legends', but with fewer notes about the content. i got some good stuff from a couple of the chapter introductions, but otherwise this was generally a waste of time, having already read the other two. this one was more of a disappointment than i was expecting. a huge chunk of it was copied straight from simpson's 'icelandic folktales and legends', but with fewer notes about the content. i got some good stuff from a couple of the chapter introductions, but otherwise this was generally a waste of time, having already read the other two.

As wide as an ocean but as shallow as a puddle is a phrase that comes to mind. Unfortunately this book lacks depth or context for the tales within. Although covering various aspects of life, most entries are merely a paragraph to a page and go by so fast that without context/analysis you're left going, "huh".
