Very cute, and teen girls will very much be able to relate to the obsessive desire for a boyfriend.

After reading Misako Rocks'! other graphic novel, Biker Girl and bringing it up to my brother (whom I went to school with for undergrad at Truman State), he was like "you know that's Misako who we went to school with, right?" This story is all about her coming to Kirksville, Missouri, and falling in love with this pop rocker guy from Madison, WI who everyone,/i> (myself included) crushed on. There are several guys who Misako went to high school with and who are in this book t I feel embarrassed. There are several guys who Misako went to high school with and who are in this book that also went to Truman. It was surreal since this was the 1st time I read a book dedicated and involving people I knew from my undergrad years back in chilly, middle-of-nowhere, Northeast Missouri. Weird. The story is super cute and all about Misako coming over to Missouri from Japan and learning how to adapt to American food and culture and learning more of the English language to help her feel more comfortable and do better in school. (when she's not crushing too hard and daydreaming about her boys! :) She goes up to Madison, WI, one summer for a puppeteer camp and runs back into her "man of her dreams," a rock and roll guitar player named Zac. You'll just have to read the rest of book to find out--will Misako's rock and roll love prevail or will Zac's groupies cloud out the connection between he and Misako?

Rock and Roll Love by Misako Rocks is a great book. The first time I looked at the cover I knew that I would enjoy this book. I would recommend this book to all teens. In this book, it talks about a girl named Misako and she has a dream boy rock star. She wishes that her dream boy can be her boyfriend. The cutest graphic novel I've ever written about culture shock and rock star crushes ever. I think the best part is, this is the kind of stuff I believe happens to me. She has a crush on an American popstar while living in Japan, she studies abroad in America to hope to meet him (umm, Glasgow is calling...), makes a lot of friends, finds even more cute popstar boys to crush on, and then goes back to Japan and has a very happy ending. Eh...read this in an hour. Misako (main character) is WAY to obsessed with Zac (rockstar). Her obsession got old to a point where I considered not finishing the book, but I was close to being done. To all you people considering reading this er, American Manga, if you don't like predictable endings, DONT BOTHER READING IT. Eh...read this in an hour. The main character was a little over-the-top in her obsession with rock star boy, but teenagers can get that way. I loved her friends -- they were fun & supportive & smart. Can't wait to read the biker book by this same author! The main character was a little over-the-top in her obsession with rock star boy, but teenagers can get that way. I especially liked how the story stayed away from overly dramatizing events, regardless of how much they were true to actual events. It was very nice and realistic and sentimental, etc. (review is for the 2014 reprint)

Very cute, autobiographical manga-ish comic. I really loved Misako Rocks' Biker Girl and I loved this one too. It's very sweet and just about every girl will relate to the love story. I also really like the drawings, they fit perfectly with the story. Very cute, autobiographical manga-ish comic. I really loved Misako Rocks' Biker Girl and I loved this one too. Cute teen romance about a Japanese girl who comes to the U.S. (Missouri) as an exchange student. I'm sure students will eat it up. Cute teen romance about a Japanese girl who comes to the U.S. (Missouri) as an exchange student. I'm sure students will eat it up.

Pretty standard high school manga. Decent story, decent art, but nothing special. Needs more rock and roll.
